    Thanks for asking, HeDog.
The broken femur is healing up well. I go out in the sun for a 20 minute sun bath every day, to get the good Vitamin D.
The problem I am having is caused by the fact that my leg was pinned/crushed under that tree for 30 minutes. This caused terrible bruising and crushing of the tissues on the back of the leg. I have developed two "wounds" as the doc calls them behind the knee. To start with they were two inches wide and 3/4 inch deep. These wounds were not present the day of the accident, they showed up about ten days afterwards. Have to pack them with gauze soaked in antibiotic, have to change the dressing twice a day.
    Real pain in the ass.
Real bad circulation in that leg due to damage to veins/capillaries. When I stand up the foot turns purple/red, will not return to normal color until I lie down and elevate leg on 3 pillows.

But, I am doing a hell of a lot better, the wounds are healing albeit slowly, I will be ok and plan on a full recovery. I have two more weeks on crutches.

Despite the pain and discomfort, it is amazing how well you can sleep at night if you take one Vicodin and chase it with a gin and tonic.

And Allan, don't let any body tell you different my friend.TAKE THE PAIN MEDS, and worry not about getting :hooked" that's the least of your worries.Sleep is the most important thing you can do for that leg.If you aren't sleeping well because of pain, TAKE MORE!The minor discomfort(if any) you suffer, from being on pills for 3 months, is NOTHING,compared to you saving your leg!

    Let the FLAMING begin!!

If you use narcotic analgesics, you will go to hell.

    Out of Vicodin eh Doug?

Glad to hear you are doing better Allen! I can't begin to imagine what you went through, and it is great to find you looking at the sunny side of it. Take care.[^]

Thank you very much HeDog, I appreciate your kind words.

Yes it has been painful. I have had lots of injuries, chainsaw cut to the leg for 35 stitches, broken ankle playing soccer, broken wrist falling from oak tree at age 5, road rash from motorcycle crashes, two teeth busted out in high school football, 140 stitches in the head from car crash in high school, there are many more I won't list.
But, the pain that has emanated from my knee has surpassed the pain from all those injuries combined. It has been unreal, waves and waves of pain that flowed from that knee and enveloped my entire body.
I am 8 weeks into it and the pain is not nearly as bad now.
