gun show...deal or no deal
there is a gun show comming down the road from me on the 27,28th. at the dulles expo center, and since i have not been to one in over a decade, i figure i would take a look. my question is, are there true bargins to be had anymore or are items more or less the same price as the gun shops? i will be looking for a second handgun in the $450 range, also at least one case of ammo (40sw). i would really like to find an enfield 303 in good condition for app $250-$300. am i being hopefull or is a gunshow the place to look? any suggestions or even examples would be great.

fizzer....... Give it a try. There are some good deals to be had at shows and some lousy ones also.
There are a lot of good handguns in the $450 range. Ammo is one thing you can usually get good deals on at gun shows.
One nice thing about the shows is you can see and handle a large variety of guns in one place. Some of the sellers are more motivated than others so shop around.
Dont buy from the first table you come across. Go thru the show and compare prices.0 -
Whether or not the tables are offering good deals, gun shows probably still offer the highest concentration of potential face-to-face sales you'll ever encounter. Those tend not to be for profit and definitely don't involve a middle-man, so they should still be good deals. 0 -
I'm in the same general vicinity as you fizzer. There are two promoters who do show's in the area. You should have no trouble finding the Enfield you're looking for. The handgun depends a lot on what you wan to buy. A lot also depends on how much business theyre doing. If things are slow, I find they will tend deal more. I enjoy going, to talk with the dealers, see what's new and look for unique items. Just my 2 cents. 0 -
I went to that show a few years ago and ammo was cheap - I bought a case of 9mm Winchester for like $6/50.
The show itself was ok, a lot of AR and AR parts but also a lot of C&R tables too. Overall a good show. VA is nice if you are a resident because you can buy it at 10am and pick it up at noon!
Too bad I am a MD resident!0 -
Gun shows are not what they used to be... at least not in Denver.
It used to be that you could dicker with these guys.
These days, you get sky-high prices and if you make an offer, you'll be told more times than not that the price you see is the price you'll pay.0
