AVOID NETGEAR PRODUCTS.
Im on a Netgear router right now. I am always having to repair the connection or worse, manually reset the router. It stalls out all the time, and theres nothing I can do about it.
Go with Linksys or Cisco products.0 -
Linksys. Adapts to almost anything and if you're using a laptop you can evewn go wireless, so you can keep up with the forum while cleaning guns in the garage.[:)] 0 -

Lynksys has been bought out buy cisco systems and what used to be lynksys is no more. they have dumbed their modems and routers down. they have no memory like the olds ones did. they where dumbed down to get the lower end market share that cisco couldnt get with their routers higher end lines. our office just spent alot of time and money and alot of scratching our heads as we had a older lynksys get hit buy a static charge and killed it. it had been a great router so we bought a new lynksys moden with wireless just like the old one so we thought. after the fact we where told they are good for a single computer add a 2nd and it cant remember where its suppose to be and cause extremely slow browsing. do to the fact that it cant cache any info. but that my experience. cant tell what to buy but i would buy linksys ever again not even for the house.0 -
I have had netgear for 4 weeks, it seems to be working fine. I was really impressed with customer service from LinkSys - On a Friday evening I bought what the idiot at Walmart said was a router but it was only a hub. Naturally I couldn't get it to work as a router and I called the customer service number that evening and got the machine. On Monday afternoon they called me back.
If I hadn't already bought the netgear router elsewhere I sure would have went with the LinkSys product.0 -

I've had my LinkSys set up for about a year-couldn't be happier.I have it out here in my workshop.The shop is detached and about 30ft. from the house.The computer I use is hardwired to the router but the house uses the wireless signal. The signal passes through the shop window, then the house exterior,then 2 walls into the den.My Daughters laptop and her desktop receive almost full signal strength from the router and full speed from the DSL. She can use it upstairs, and even in the bathroom with the door closed.
The router has withstood extreme heat and cold out here in the shop.It hasn't missed a beat.Its on 24/7.I bought the Speed Booster model because of the distance and obstructions. It cost very little more.Even if I had a more convential home with closer access, I would get the higher output.
Got to thinking-new hispeed connection,new laptop,new wireless equipment.....it all sounds just waaaayy too good for ya!!![8D]0 -

I have an ActionTek that's been good to me for well over two years. But, that was one I purchased at the store.
I had two that Qwest gave me that died within a month, but they were stripped down models.0
