Guess What I Got?
It is on the sofa in a case, right now.
It is a Colt M16A1, in new condition, made in 1975, marked U.S. Government Property.
I wish I could say it is mine to keep, but it is only issued. I get to shoot it tomorrow.
We got a bunch of them from some federal outfit for free. Our rifle armorer installed AR15 selectors, so they won't go full auto. I hate to think what this lot of rifles would be worth if they were transferable. WOW!
Spent today learning how it works. Tomorrow is range day. If I pass, I get to carry it on patrol.

david- glad for ya, hopefully you get the training needed, ie: in the usmc we did "select fire" only when needed to expnd rounds.

On TV this week Nichols Hills PD in OK. - The super rich part of town.
Got a even dozen of surplus M16A1's, also mid 70"s mfg & refurbished.
All were converted to 9mm, and semi auto.
Except 2 that were kept full auto in 9mm for their Tac teams.
I belive all they pay is shipping cost to get them.
All on form5's, non-transferable.
A good deal for cash strapped PD's.0 -
