Was he the greatest man of his day? I think that's debatable. Was he a great man, you bet! However, he's got some pretty incredible contenders, many of whom signed the Declaration and drafted the Constitution.
Washington was a great leader, no doubt. However, I really admired Franklin more than anyone else of that era.0 -

I liked Jefferson as an intellectual. My understanding is that , as a person, he left a lot to be desired.0
