I wonder is anyone has tried a composite bat. Plastic. It could pass through a metal detector too!

I kind of agree with them. There's nothing like the sound of a wooden bat on a human skull. [:D]

It's a S&W 60-9 with a bobbed hammer and trigger job for DA only.

I wonder if it is going to be all bats, or just those nasty baseball bats. Are softball bats really softer on the noggin?

It it easier to bludgeon someone with a metal bat then it is with a wooden bat?

Short barrel metal bats are easier to conceal.

    Two forensics reasons for this:

    1) Metal bats will not crack or splinter in a street fight or during a "motivated" beating. Metal may eventually bend or dent a little but not until 30 or 40 or more blows have been struck.

    2) Metal bats do not leave anything behind in the wounds and bruises like a wood bat might if it splinters or chips a bit. Metal bats are not porous and DNA, blood, etc. can be obliterated from them or at least rendered unusable with full strength bleach.

when they banned those evil trans fats, Fark.com had the absoulte best one-liner ever as far as I'm concerned: "NY bans trans fats. Fat trannies still OK."

Why not? Biff's son on back to the future II had one of those things.

Ya know when the background check thing becomes an issue in conversation, I always use the analogy that baseball bats should require a background check and that there should be a waiting period because a baseball bat in the wrong hands could be used in a manner inconsistent with its manufacture and be used as a weapon so i hope it passes SSCCrew 'em

Want to know the best part?

New York State is a relatively large state, with lots of open space and lots of small towns.

There's more people in the 5 boroughs of New York City than there are in the entire rest of New York State put together. Almost twice as many, in fact. Somewhere around 75% of those people are Liberals.

They stand on 5% of the land mass and rule the entire state with an iron Liberal fist. The Senators are Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer.

It is an example of Tyranny of the Majority on a scale so shocking and massive it literally makes me wonder how the upstate has not gone into open rebellion yet.

This tells a slightly different story.

quote:This afternoon, a City Council committee approved a ban on the use of metal bats in high school baseball games, deeming them unsafe. If the ban passes the full Council by a large majority on Wednesday, as seems likely, the city could become the first jurisdiction in the United States to prohibit the use of the bats.
The issue has sharply divided youth baseball leagues, coaches, players and fans. Industry groups have hired lobbying and public relations firms, while parents of players severely injured by balls hit off of metal bats have given tearful testimony in support of it.
Each side has brought forth studies, experts and Major League players: Mike Mussina, a Yankees pitcher, is against the ban; John Franco, a former Mets pitcher, is for it.
