    I may be the only one here, but I don't like that sort of a law. Don't get me wrong -- I hate the Westboro Baptist Church and what they stand for, and if someone were to "accidentally" take out (with, say, a "runaway" semi) all of them at once, I'd not shed a tear...

    I don't like laws that infringe on someone's right to free speech or their right to act like an assclown. Yes, I realize that mourners should be able to mourn in peace, but darnitall, I hold the Second Amendment dearly and it would be rather hypocritical of me to want to circumvent the First.

    "Free speech does not mean the right to shout FIRE in a crowded theater." Nor should it mean that I have the right to stand on your front lawn with a bullhorn at 3 AM and berate you because you own a GLOCK-or eat Cheerios, or drive a Toyota- or whatever else I don't like about you. There are few rights that do not have SOME limitations on them. Usually where they conflict with another right. No, really NOT trying to be a troll. Free speech does not include the right to violate a judge's order to a jury member not to discuss a trial in progress. Freedom of religion does not permit me to practice human sacrifice. I really wish the IRS would pull the "church" status for these bozos at the funerals. Truthfully, I was astounded they made it out of WV in one piece when they protested at the funeral of the coal miners. THOSE boys play rough!

    I too fully support the freedom of speech, except when it is out of line ... enough is enough. IMHO, a funeral is also a freedom of speech (expression of mourning, closure, etc..) and in some cultures it is sacred.

    Respect the families rights to mourn (sacred or not) and bury their love one in peace. Respect is earned, not issued ... and a fallen comrade that paid the ultimate sacrifice definitely earned that respect.

    What many people tend to forget, including the protesters, is that many cemetaries and all churches are on private property and are fully within their rights to boot them off. Even on public property the police have the right to removed anyone causing a public disturbance.Remember their job is to protect the public in general not specific individuals.

    But is that what our Founding Fathers wanted? Did they want to protect free speech until "it is out of line?" Who, exactly, gets to draw the line in the sand?

    You guys scream (rightfully so) whenever someone wants to pass "common sense" gun laws, and cite the 2nd. But, you don't seem to have the same fervor when someone wants to pass "common sense" free speech laws.

    If you want to stop the Westboro Baptist Church, sue them civilly. I doubt Westboro will find too many sympathetic juries. Sue them into oblivion.
