    why perverting?
    Non-lethal weapons have a variety of applications in law enforcement.

    Or would you advocate state-sanctioned murder of every dangerous drunk and mostly harmless demonstrator that the cops run across?

    That is why they issue LEO's tazers. And, as was found out in Boston, even "non-lethal" weapons can kill.
    For those of you who may not know a young woman was killed by a "non-lethal" bullet that was fired into a crowd of rowdies in Boston. The projectile struck her in the eye, fatally wounding her. I cannot remember exactly when this happened, but just recently the city of Boston decommisioned all of their "non-lethal" weapons.

    I believe it was a pepperball (basically a paintball with pepper spray-like powder) all paintballs can be deadly if they hit an unprotected face. Unfortunately paintballs, being shperical projectiles fired from a smooth bore, are notoriously innaccurate at anything beyond 80-100 feet.
    The general line of thinking behind pepperballs is that you have a less-than-lethal weapon with a greater range than tasers or pepperspray, however one must be very careful with aim and skilled at shooting paintball guns (they behave slightly different than real guns, trust me)
