Ridiculous incident with my dog
So this afternoon around 1 o'clock, I'm sitting at the computer when I hear a knock at the door. It was a cable guy from the local company that was working on our neighbor's cable and he came to tell me that my dog tried to attack his partner and "lunged" at him and he hurt his back. So the guy throws out his back and that's cause to call the ambulance out here and report it to the sheriff's department. Now both of my dogs have electric shock collars that keep them in my yard. The dog that "attacked" him is a 9-year-old chocolate lab that has never bit anyone. It pisses me off because now I'm sure my parents will have to pay for the paramedics and stuff. I hate today's legal system.

Must immediately ban all labs as vicious dogs!
Bummer, dude, both for you and the cable guy.0 -

Prove it.
That'sd be my stance also, but he already has his partner as a "witness".0 -
Your dog was running loose? Aren't there ordinances about that kind of thing where you live?
Where I live dogs who run loose with no form of tag are often killed on the spot by the Sheriff's office. Those that have tags are captured and their owners cited.
If that dog was in violation of an ordinance, shame on you, you lose.0 -
It wasn't running loose, it had a shock collar on. 0 -
Cable guy pulls his back at home. He see's a dog in the neighborhood. Yangtze!!! Work related injury. 0 -
You're dog scared me and I threw out my back. Hmmmm.
Every time I'm speeding and I think the cop has me, my back gets a huge knot in it. If I have to see a quack, can I send the bill to the county? The cop scared me and my back tightened up.0 -

Shock collar ain't a leash or a fence. The ordinances I have seen are quite clear.
If a strange dog was running towards me, I don't know that I would recognize a shock collar.0 -

And no one should want to live here.

It's actually called invisible fence. If they were in my yard, they had no reason to be. 0 -
When I read this I was startled and fell out of my chair....I think I hurt my speco-tirium-itis thingy and I need you to pay my Gun Broker fees this month. Thank you.....ahead of time very much (cough cough) 0 -

Good, we don't want ya!
We have a severe problem with wild dogs, strays and rabies. Even pets that run loose are prone to contracting rabies if they haven't been vaccinated. I for one am not going to find the owner and ask for papers when a dog is in my yard. I could tell you stories but would rather shout into a well.
They aren't shot for sport. Have a wild or unfamiliar dog show up in your yard where your kids play and tell me you wouldn't be extremely concerned.
Dog owners seem to think they have some right to let their animals do whatever thay want. Owning an animal is a responsibility, and I DON'T care, nor do I have a responsibility to adjust my world for your freakin dog! If you don't like it, tough dog bisquits.0 -

Sorry you are wrong on this one. That is cat owners that think their cat is ok by wandering around and poopting in my flower bed.0 -

We just won't go into what happens to any animal that decides to take up wondering on our property. I have two small dogs and they go out to go to the bathroom....I don't want their little buts kicked or them to have puppies with whatever comes up. Loose is not cool in our area. 0 -
did he bath in canned dog food that morning 0 -
Defendant: I was scared and threw out my back ?
Plaintiff: My dog has a shock collar ...
Defendant: Maybe you shock collar malfunctioned.[:0][:0]0 -
mateo, not all places have a "leash law". In Virginia it's up to the county, city or town. The only dog ordinance Halifax County has is you have to have the dog vaccinated for rabies, pay your tax and keep the tag on the dog.
My dog never runs loose, mainly for protection of the dog, but to avoid other problems too. Just because we don't have a lease law doesn't mean we aren't responsible for the dog.
If the dog approached the cable guy in the neighbors yard, as some Labs will do, the cable guy has a legitimate complaint. If the cable guy was in frankcastle's yard, then I have to agree with frankcastle. He had no business there.0 -

I agree.0 -
Personally I've never met a labrador that had any other intention but to lick my face off. Quite possibly the ideal "friendly dog" 0
