A new C&R question
....As if we haven't covered the topic enough. If I'm not mistaken, an 01 FFL must display the license in the place of business. Is an 03 required to keep it in a prominent place also? I wouldn't think so, as you're not a business. I've always had it on the wall in the gun room, but getting a renewal got me to thinking that I'd rather it be in the safe. What say ye?

I keep my C&R original locked up. I have copies I carry around just in case I run into a C&R I want to pick up.
Since we are not in business, whats the point of "displaying" it, there is no one to look at it.0 -
...That's what I figured, but as I read the regs, they're very specific about an 01 displaying it, but don't say either way for an 03. It's going in the safe from now on. Like you, I keep copies in the car, truck, etc. You never know what you'll run across.
...I'd think that if the guys in suits come to the door, having a piece of paper on the wall is the least of your worries.0 -
Since an 03 has no POB, display is not required. Neither is the dumb kids N guns notice. 0 -
Ok I have a question, or a few. I have my C and R papers here which I ordered from the ATF, I just never made the time to fill them out and send them in. It has been a while since I looked, but does the ATF come and inspect your house when you send these in? I have an alarm system and a lock on my door where any guns I have would be stored, so is it necessary that they check on that? Also, did I need to get finger printed to get the license or do anything special? I think I just needed to send a letter to the sheriff letting him know I am trying to get it. Just been waiting for some money to buy some guns so I have not looked at it lately. Also, I need to keep a bound book right? 0 -
DieHard ...... No, they DONT come and inspect your house as part of the appl process. If I recall you will need to get fingerprinted for your initial application.
Your NOT required to have an alarm system. You ARE required to keep track of all your C&R guns for both purchase and disposition in your bound book.
The govt boys are allowed to inspect your bound book, but I have never heard of anyone with a C&R having their books looked at.
Keep in mind, the C&R license only allows collecting. If you sell too many guns in a 12 month period, they could say your are operating as a dealer and require you to get an 01 FFL.
No, I dont know how many "too many" is. Thats not to say you cannot sell any, you can, but if they think you are doing it to "make a living" they could put the kabosh on your C&R.0 -
....No fingerprints are needed. When you send the copy to your CLEO, enclose a note that it's a part of the application process and no action need be taken on their part. You never know who opens the mail, and decides that this is something that needs looking into.
....Make sure that you also send in the "declaration of citizenship" that came with the app.0 -
