Denver Category 5 Storm vs. Katrina.?
The definition between a red state and a blue state?
Denver Post: This text is from a county emergency manager out in the central
part of Colorado after todays snowstorm.
... we just recovered from a Historic Storm of "Biblical Proportions" --- with a blizzard of up to 44" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.
George Bush did not come.
FEMA did nothing.
No one howled for the government.
No one blamed the government.
No one even uttered an expletive on TV.
Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton did not visit.
Our Mayor did not blame Bush or anyone else.
Our Governor did not blame Bush or anyone else, either.
CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX or NBC did not visit - or report on this category 5 snowstorm.
Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.
No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House.
No one looted.
Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something.
Nobody expected the government to do anything, either.
No Larry King, No Bill O'Rielly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews and No Geraldo Rivera.
No Shaun Penn, No Barbara Striesand, No Hollywood types to be found.
Nope, we just melted the snow for water.
Sent out caravans of SUV's to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars.
The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ask for a penny.
Local restaurants made food and the police and fire departments delivered it to the snowbound families.
Families took in the stranded people - total strangers.
We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman
lanterns.
We put on extra layers of clothes because up here it is "Work or
Die".
We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out
of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that
trades votes for 'sittin at home' checks.
Even though a Category "5" blizzard of this scale has never fallen
this early, we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.
"In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of about
48 degrees North Latitude, 90% of the world's social problems evaporate."
Maybe SOME people will get the message. The world does not owe you a
living.

To be fair, there's little comparison between Katrina and this snowstorm (or the one that followed, or the one that will hit tomorrow).
Katrina broke levees and essentially wiped parts of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast off the map.
This snowstorm stranded a few people in cars and gave some others a touch of cabin fever. It has prevented hundreds of head of livetock from being fed, and the Guard has had to do airlifts to get these animals food.
Don't get me wrong -- I think the Katrina victims enjoy their place in life -- they get all the attention and they get government goodies and they're milking Katrina for all it is worth.
But, to compare a short-lived blizzard that will be, in the end, more of an inconvenience than anything else with a hurricane that caused true devastation to a region of the country is a bit unfair.
Anyway, Colorado is run now by a Democrat-controlled legislature and governor. So, the whiners aren't going to blame themselves. [;)]0 -

What has Pelosi and Reid done for the victims of these blizzards? NOTHING!
This is a do-nothing Congress, and that's a fact!0 -

So was the state of Louisiana during Katrina.

I blame Spanielsells, you notice he was gone when it hit? That is his attempt a plausible deniability, but he planned it and arranged it. Notice he was talking about it before he left? He is the one to blame all right.
Besides, this is Urban legend first attributed to North Dekota and later Wyoming, Montana and the upper midwest.0 -

Bzzt. Wrong answer. I have witnesses that can testify that I had nothing to do with the blizzard. I was busy changing the oil in the UFO that Elvis, JFK, Hoffa and Kenneth Lay fly around in.0 -
Another Urban Legend, you did it all right, I have photos.
Of your wife. [}:)]0 -

Cool. Which club was she dancing at when you took the photos? They're worth more if she actually autographed them.0 -
Oh they are autographed all right, she signed them Cyd Charise, and you know that is going to bring some money. 0 -
I am going to get slammed, but here goes.
It seems the majority of the people in New
orleans that stayed were either on food stamps/
wanted to stay, after the storm, they wanted to
rape/pillage/plunder.
when someone tells you there is a storm coming
get the hell out of the way.
The Major had all those buses, but did he have the brains
god gave an ant, to use these to get the people out, '
hell no, all he wanted to do is bash the adminisration.
it seems the "PEOPLE" are the real heroes in Denver.
they help each other, not pulling guns on people.
if the people of denver had been in New Orleans.
there would not have been a problem, they would
have left, they would have helped others.
It is the people that make it or break it.0 -
the difference between colorado and louisana isnt the politicians in charge its the people who live in the states.....blacks vs whites 0 -
Oh look, the Klan has arrived. 0 -
