Why don't you like CCI Blazer Ammo?

I read a few comments on here about this ammo not being very good, meaning the aluminum cased type, but there were no reasons given. I have bought a good amount because it is the cheapest I can find, and have not been able to shoot it yet. So what do you all not like about it? So far the only ammo I do not care for is Wolf, especially in 9mm, mostly because that muzzle flash was huge.

    Never shot it. Probably never will. I reload all I do shoot and shoot surplus in what I don't have dies for. Wolf is fine; i am not shooting the national matches with it so it don't matter.

    FWIW- I have a "rack issue" type of 1911AI- used to shoot some military competition that mandated real basic pistol. And that sucker LOVES Blazer. Cheap, aluminum cased, non-reloadable BLAZER. Not my handloads. Not match grade ammo. Not the high dollar custom loads rolled between the thighs of... well you get the idea. Have won a couple of matches with the stuff. Consistent, to point of aim, no excessive recoil, not excessively dirty- and its CHEEP! Its downright disgusting!

    CCI Blazer is my favorite ammo for my Browning Hi Power 9mm's. I have NEVER had any problem in several thousand rounds of Blazer 9mm.

    I wish I had the extra cash a couple of years ago when it was selling at Academy for $3.86/50. I didn't wise up in time and bought 2K @$4.86/50

    Today it's $5.86/50

    It is too weak to function in some of the exotic European weapons I have. For revolvers, it's fine.

    I bought some blazer brass .45 ACP at the Wichita wal mart when I was visiting a friend and we decided to shoot at his parents' place. Before anyone asks, I did not drive around with guns but no ammo, I just thought it would be daft to use up all of my hollowpoints for plinking.

    I don't know if I got a bad batch but I could not figure out why we could not hit crap that day. A week later I too the blazer and other ammunition out to the local range and found out that it was my worst ammo accuracy wise. Wolf shot groups half the diameter of the blazer, no lie!

    i love it. even with shipping, its the cheapest 9mm i can get. i dont reload so i dont care about the alum case. had maybe 2-3 bad rounds in the 5k+ i have shot of it. not the most accurate in the world but ive shot worse. dirtier than some, but cleaner than others. all in all, i think that if you stick to what its on the market for, plinking, its fine. but if you buy it expecting it too shoot like premium ammo, your setting youself up for dissapointment.

    I think it's good enough to use in my carry gun. 100% function 100% of the time for me in Ruger 95/89, Star BM, and Browning P35.

    Never tried it, from what I read I'll probally stay away from it and never worry or have any of the probs I read about.

    I some how got about 2 mags of the stuff in .45. I shot it without any problems.

    The only pistol I have ever owned that didn't like it was a uber-tricked Para-Ordinance P14 Limited. But, it didn't seem to like anything it got fed...which is why it is gone.

    Otherwise, all my other 1911's, USP's, P7, Beretta, Glocks, Witness, et al--all of 'em eat it up. Heck, if they made it in 9x18, I'd shoot it in my Mak.

    Don't a lot of owner manuals state that you'll void the warranty if you shoot the CCI Blazer?

    O.K. , I shoot it on a regular basis , we sell it here in the shop , generally speaking it is some of the least inexspensive ammo available ...Years ago one of the times I went to a Police Academy , all they stocked @ the range was cci blazer ammo , very few problems and cost was good ???

    I use a lot on 9mm Blazer for IDPA competition. Always accurate, cheap, reliable. It saves me from the temptation to pick up brass during a match.

    My dept. uses it as training ammo. Never had a problem in my Sig P220.

    I think they do, or did at one time.

    Never had a prob with ANY Blazer, or any CCI ammo for that matter.

    I have shot up a lot of 45 ACP blazer over the years and have never experienced any problem with it. Its as accurate as any other inexpensive brand, in my opinion.

    I have shot a ton of it over the years. There are two reason why I never buy it myself. No brass to reload and at some of the outdoor ranges I shoot at, there are a ton of them all over the place because the people that shoot them seem to think they don't need to pick them up. [}:)]

    I have a styre 9mm, and it will shoot it all day long, never had a problem with it.

    I shot up a couple of boxes of Blazer when it first came out. I felt so guilty about throwing it away that I quit using it.

    I've saved my brass for over 40 years - way before I started reloading, and pitching it just doesn't seem right.

    I have used of lot of Blazer in 9mm and .45 and it worked just fine.
    It is reasonably accurate and clean. If I see some at a good price I will buy it.

    Leaving for a gun show in about 90 mins and just might pick some up.

    I don't buy it, but have acquired a bit of it over the years when purchasing a firearm. They throw in the ammo they have to "make" the deal. Never had a problem with it, just doesn't seem right (as Doug W. said) throwing it away.

    My experience with .38/.357 CCI Blazer has been very, very good. No problems. In my revolvers, it seems to fire "softer" i.e. less harshly than some of the other factory brands. As a courtesy, when I'm at the indoor range, I take the spent casings in hand and discard them in the trash barrel rather than allow them to go over the bench and in with the pile of brass already on the floor. That's why I don't shoot CCI Blazer in 9mm as I can't control where the casings will end up.

    You will find a great many are retail snobs. They would not be caught dead with F191, or CETME, they must have the HK 91. They would not have a MAK 90, they must have the polytech. The same applies to the ammo. Though it works just as good, its not the same quality to many.
