Ban on "texting while driving"......rediculous!
I was watching the news and it seems there is a movement to ban texting messages while driving. Have we really gotten so stupid that we have to BAN something so rediculous as this? Why not ban dog grooming while driving....or painting with oils on canvas while driving....maybe even go as far as to ban jigsaw puzzle building while driving.
I'm going to start carrying mags and loose ammo in my car so I can load them if I can get the cellphone lovers to look at me!

Never underestimate the stupidity of the average person........ 0 -
Do you realize how hard it is to reply to this while driving?

[8D]--Won't be long that it'l be against the law to LOOK in the right rear view mirror while making a LEFT turn--

laws are created to protect the public and to guide them back to a proper behaviour. fines are used to humble and to cause people to repent, so the behaviour isnt performed again.
these laws would not be needed if the public wasnt so stupid.
rule number one, streets are public property. when on public land, safe behaviour is required for the safety of all. driving is a privilage, not a right.
you have a responsiblity to behave safely while 'in public.' since the typical new generation american no longer cares for anyone but himself, laws are needed to remind and punish those that practice poor public behaviour. without it, like most criminals, theyd claim ignorance and get off scott free for any injuries or poor behaviours.
death has been desensitized. thus, no loss or fear causes people to do weird things.
some change poor behaviour when fined. some dont. sometimes it takes losing a loved one or a limb.
personally i feel fines should hurt. if they dont, it has no effect in changing behavior.
its a good law.
but, i'd rather see a change in the hearts of the people, making laws never having to be enforced.
try to picture yourself on a shooting range without range rules. get my point?0 -
I've been almost run off the road by people looking down at their cell phones. It looks like they are texting. It is worse than having the phone up to your ear. 0 -

Kind of makes me want to put "rub bars" on the ole truck and shunt em into the weeds.0 -
Here in the DC area we have some of the worst traffic in the country. I drive a 4WD Suburban so I get a good view of passersby. During that commute I have seen people: shaving, doing makeup, reading the paper which is up on their steering wheel, lifting weights with a dumb bell, changing clothes, working on their laptop which is also on their steering wheel, and many other things. All done while driving, not while sitting still. People are stupid. 0 -
I do not shoot at ranges with rules.

I don't see how anyone could text while driveing, doesn't putting on make-up while driving take all their attention? 0 -
Here in Metro Detroit, texting while drinking coffee while talking on (the other) cellphone while smoking while watching the indash TV while driving (all at the same time) is fairly common. 0 -
Was almost killed on my way to work by a woman texting her boyfriend.
04:30 in the morning. Had the left side of my car trashed. I called
9-11 even though I saw her on her cell phone. Asked her who she called
and she stated - her boyfriend. She was upset that I called 9-11
because, come to find out, she had no insurance. Don't know if she
was driving on a suspended license. Trooper didn't say. Got a letter
from my insurance company a couple months ago stating they were unable
to collect and I was welcome to try my luck. Looks like I'm out my

Teen drivers are the worst. They require constant entertainment, be it from a cell phone or whatever. They can not be alone with their own thoughts as they have no thoughts! They can not just get in a car and drive, without first dialing up someone on their cell phone so they can chat and be entertained as they drive along. 0 -
As a former insurance adjuster, I'll just tell you that what people do while driving is rather frightening.
Makes you want to stay off the roads. I don't, but I want to.0 -
Cops instant message while driving. Mrs. Plaid chats with them all night at work. 0 -
banning something usually doesn't work unless people understand it's wrong. murder is banned. driving drunk is illegal. stealing is also against the law. did it stop a lot of people from committing these crimes? 0 -

No, but people that ignore laws against rape, murder, theft and assault will abide by a law preventing them from having a firearm.0 -

noooooooooooooooo! [:0] what is even more amazing is that the sheeple will easily believe that 9/11 was orchestrated by Bush personally but not that murderers, rapists, robbers, and other human waste don't give a rats a$$ about laws, morals and rules.0 -
it would be different if they would actually enforce it, they banned cell phone use in many cities i have been to, but still see {sorry, but mainly woman} merging into traffic without looking while on a cell EVERYDAY 0 -

Um, nope. What's even more amazing is that people believe Rosie O'Dumbass and Michael "Two Cheeseburgers" Moore speak the truth.0 -

I agree this is ridiculous, but I'd feel safer have someone on the road with a BAC of .08 than a person driving and texting at the same time. 0 -
the companies should install motion detectors in blackberrys and cell phones if you moving your not talking or text messaging, problem solved.[:D] 0 -

how would that work?
Either it would respond via GPS (and be buggy and problematic because of that) or it would respond to G-forces, so when you turn in your chair while talking, it cuts out (again buggy and problematic)0 -
My question is who the hell are these people talking to? 0 -
I've gotta wonder about those GPS screens that all the new cars seem to have... How do you watch that little screen and the road at the same time? [:D] 0 -

beats me, when I drive I DRIVE, not play with computers.
I'm pretty sure that some models have voice directions and accept voice commands.0 -

While many people are capable of multi tasking in general VERY FEW are able to be able to do so and maintain their concentration on ALL the tasks at hand. Therein is the problem when doing other tasks while driving. Even with hands free it is suprising how much concentration on the driving is lost.
When people are put in a simulator and allowed to multi task it is uterly amazing what they miss. The biggest misconception is... "not me I am fully aware of what I am doing".
My wife likes to put omn makeup when driving .It drives me nuts. It takes her about 1 minute when she is parked but 3-4 minutes while driving. I tell her why not just wait untill you stop.0
