I am sure that JJ will just spread around that $270K fine on the next dozen high priced bikes he sells.

What's wrong with this? Los Angeles has the WORST air quality in the nation. It isn't like driving around Kansas or Nebraska, California has over 35 million people living there, that's a lot of drivers spewing pollution into the air. If you want to see where "unregulated" auto emissions gets you, look at Mexico City where they have "smog emergency days" in which people are warned to say indoors and the air is so polluted that birds will actually drop dead from the skies.

Or Tehran, where gasoline costs ~$0.09 a gallon and the cars have no pollution controls. 3600 people A MONTH die in Tehran because of the air pollution. There is a very practical reason for why CA is so strict with it's pollution and emission control.

What is wrong with it... Most of these bikes are rarely if ever taken out on the street. Most of them are sitting in the lobby of some rich guys business. What is what is wrong with it...

I went to LA in 1970. The air pollution was so bad that I had tears in my eyes the entire time. I had to leave after 3 days.
I am glad the state is strict about enforcing air pollution laws.
I have also made a couple trips to Mexico City. What an air-polluted hellhole.

wow, what a difference pollution controls made.
I went to LA last summer, had no respiratory trouble whatsoever. And I am no big city boy, I grew up in the mountain air of Albuquerque NM and wide open spaces of Kansas (so I am not just "used to it")
