Shooting a pistol
I was talking with a guy at work about guns and shooting. I asked him if he had any, he said not yet. He did say he was wanting to get a shotgun or a pistol because you don't have to aim them. I asked him how he holds a pistol since he doesn't think they need to be aimed. He said you're suppose to hold them sideways, and he was dead serious. Wow.

Make sure you tell him about those homeboy site's. 0 -
Do you work in the hood? 0 -
Probably would be in your best interest to NOT go shooting with that guy. 0 -
Make sure he knows the "file the front site" rule[V] 0 -

I disagree. Go out of your way to take him shooting and show him the proper safety and way to handle firearms.0 -
Wouldn't the brass git you in the face when ejected that way? 0 -
It's a lack of education.
You could fix that.0 -
I had no real clue about guns, ammunition, how to hold a gun, etc. until I was in my mid-50's, around 17 months ago. I agree with much of what's been posted up above in that you should take him shooting and point out to him the basics. Be a mentor of sorts and don't hold honest ignorance against him.[:)] 0 -

Not for me! I am a lefty. If I shoot that way it throws the brass down![:D]
But believe me I would never shoot that way!0 -

Not as late as my fifties, but I also was a relatively late-comer to guns...and learned a lot from others who knew better than I did. Actually, I still learn a lot from others who know more than I do.
You may decide this guy is not somebody you want to be around when he has a loaded fire-arm in his possession, but if you don't decide that....then he's worth educating.0 -
Your buddy might want to get a set of these in case he ever decides he needs to aim his pistol.

Never pass up an educational opportunity to teach someone about the shooting sports. Its another voter for our side.[^] 0
