    I've given up on any redeeming good coming from a law making body that continues to believe that they can make a law and the sun will comply by making more sunlight.

    You're right. But if they can back the populace up so that our get-up and go-to-sleep times are more closely tied to the daylight hours, it could, in theory, save a bit of energy.

    I'm not convinced it makes that much difference, but it's worth trying.

    I am not too sure just how much difference DST actually makes nowadays.
    All businesses and quite a few individual homes now run energy-efficient bulbs (businesses have for at least a couple decades now)

    It seems to me that most of our energy use nowadays comes from climate control, household appliances, and computers; none of which depend on how early or late the sun rises and sets.
