just cant explain it to some people, new m44
Took my son up to he rifle range in the national forrest today,we carried all old surplus rifles including 2 91/30's and a m44,,there was only a few people there and while we were shooting a fellow in his middle 20's or so came over and was telling me he had a m44 he had bought at a pawn shop and what a POS it was,,would not cycle,bolt stuck,could not hit a 2'x2' target at 100yrds .I asked if I could look at it and he brought it over,I removed the bolt and looked down the barrel,,it was so full of crud you could not even make out the rifling,,I told him I thought all it needed was a good cleaning and he told me quick I was full of poop,,the guy at the pawn shop had cleaned it for him when he bought it,,I tried to show him but then he told me if I thought that was all it needed he would sell it to me for $25,,,so I bought it,,took out my kit,,filled the barrel with foaming bore cleaner and let it set 1/2 an hour,,then stripped it all the way down and cleaned the devil out of it,the guy was fixing to leave and I told him to hang around a minute and if it worked he could have it back for the same money,,he just waved me off and left,,I think the barrel had cosmo in it ,,i had a hard time getting it clean there at the range with no soap and water but I did,it was not even pitted at all,looked like new on the inside and it now shoots 4' groups at 100 yrds,,his loss my gain,,or my sons gain,he has already cleamed it

i dont like to call people dumb asses. but he is one.
1. he trusted the word of a pawn shop clerk to say that he cleaned the gun[V]
2. he was to dumb to look at the bore and action before he purchased the gun[:(!]
3. when the gun didnt work he didnt look to see why[8]
4. hes too dumb to clean a gun(especially surplus)[:(!]

good find/buy and respect for trying to not scam him for his stupidity buy trying to return it to him0 -
m44 is probably the best bargan of the new decade, not counting the closing of the sks decade, great gun and cheap ammo. 0 -

That's in the black on a standard NRA 100 yard rifle target. Decent accuracy considering the crude iron sights and the fact that its a mass-produced soviet rifle.0 -

You are a lot nicer than I am. I would have given him the $25 and laid the gun aside for cleaning later at home. Anybody who corks off like that and then gets what he asked for deserves to keep just what he asked for. 0 -
