We have several of those between my house and the range. But they have teams that go out ahead of the tanks and stop the traffic. I don't know why because even the oldest beater car/truck is no match for a tank. What does a tank weigh 60,000 to 70,000 lbs?

yep, tanks have horrible visibility for the driver;
a simple percaution against the idiot motorist who is not watching the road.
(In KS we also have to contend with farm equipment driving onto rural highways; but if you're watching the road it is no big deal)0
