Second Amendment Rant!
I posted this in another thread:
This is going to play right into the agenda of the anti-gun crowd that has been screaming about the large capacity mags.
This event comes at a bad time, the new liberal congress is full of anit-gun socialist progressives that are intent on disarming America to insure that all the power resides at the top levels.
We are in for the fight of our lives to retain second amendment rights in this country.
I again want to encourage all of the members of this forum to consider carefully their personal position on membership with a strong gun rights group. I feel we must make either the NRA or GOA into the 1000 lb elephant that sits in the living room. Our gun rights are at stake and that is the most effective way to express our desire to retain our rights to protect ourselves and not be pushed down the emotional slope that Canada, England, Australia and most other European Countries have experienced.
This Congress has shown they have no respect for the Bill of Rights and the Second Amendment in the Constitution. Lawyers at all levels of the individual cities and states are attacking these documents with a great deal of success. We will never win this battle as individuals, divided and standing alone writing and calling our legislators.
We need to Unionize our efforts to get the attention of Government Officials. My solution, that I have stated many times it to give a large and immediate boost to NRA membership, irregardless of your feelings about the NRA, to show our legislators that we are alarmed and intend to react. This is the largest group that works for our interests and to build a new organization from scratch would take many, many years.
Time is running out and waiting much longer to take a strong reaction to counter the efforts of the proactive anti-gun crowd will result in serious loss of gun rights within the next few years.
Remember they now have the emotional ammo they need to pull on the heartstrings of the swing vote of America and this group, when piled on top of the anti-gun voters have the clout to be successful in their bid to restrict our rights.

Well spoken.

Sorry Sig, I can not and will not give money to an organization that is actively working to defeat the Parker case.....
I am also hesitant to join GOA. As far as I can tell, they're "all talk and no walk"
I am in the process of examining the Second Ammendment Foundation...that might be who I throw my support behind0 -

I think that the second amendment foundation is the same folks as GOA! Check that out but I think thats a fact.
How about your local state gun rights group. I know here in Oregon we have a pretty strong organization that hammers the legislature hard over anti-gun bills. I get e-mail notices from them often to warn me of changes in the laws of Oregon and info about who to call to fight these changes.
GOA has always taken a very strong pro-gun position with the Congress. More of a no compromise position than the NRA.
I am also not happy with the NRA's position supporting gun free zones in schools and intend to give them hell.0
