the FNC folks don't think it's funny, because even on their own text messaging poll shows him winning at 33%.

Some of us aren't quite ready to step off the cliff with President Lemming yet. He's a whack job hiding behind retoric meant to grab attention of the desperate. I heard no ideas from him that were worth a second glace. Standing before a camera and making a fool of himself does not endear him to me when what we need is a War Fighter President that will seal our borders from invaders and then follow the Bush Doctrine of premtive strikes against our enemies.
Do you really think people will choose Ron Paul over Hillary Clinton? That is a fantasy...get over it and support someone who will win and help America. Ron Paul is a joke, and a bad joke at that.0 -
It's crazy the slant Fox news tosses on Ron Paul. Everyone acted like he's a joke, even the other candidates. However the people that voted showed they don't take him as a joke. He has the history to back up his values. I agree with his view on focusing on America. I'm sick of playing big brother to the world, let someone else take the role now.
Ripley16 please explain why you say he is a "whack job". His ideals are pretty extreme I'll agree, but I agree with his extreme views. He beleives in self reliance and goverment minding its own business. He is one of the only candidates that I hear quoting our founding fathers and constitution time and time agian. Would you rather Giuliani the only thing that idiot talked about all night was patting himself on the back for stripping New Yorkers of their 2nd amendment rights. He has my vote for sure. If he loses out in the Replican race that will be to bad.0 -
Self-reliance is nice in theory. However, it is impossible to put into action in a global economy. You can hold your breath until you turn blue, you can sit on your hands until they fall asleep, you can wish and you can pray, but after all is said and done, we will still live in a global economy. Until we live in a closed, controlled economy, you will never have a situation where we will be self-reliant. And, as even China has learned, you can't survive in a closed economy.
I like the idea of government keeping its nose out of my business.
Again, Paul has some good ideas. He also doesn't have a true grasp on reality. How, exactly, is Paul going to put all of these nifty things in action when he won't get Congress to play ball?0 -

Fair enough. His desire to do away with half the Federal Govt. is just lunacy. He thinks he can just fold up shop on the FBI, CIA, IRS, NSA, half the Cabinet Agencies and still function.
He wants to declare Defeat in the Middle East and just ignore the problem. That my friend is "pie-in-the-sky' naivety of a high school student. The problem isn't going to ignore us. The problem is trying to kill us in large numbers and eradicate our way of life. My war fangs are out and I want to take the war to my enemy. I want a fighter, not a quitter.

Ripley16 I don't have alot of time right now to give you a long post, however one thing stuck out like a sore thumb to me. He always argued to take more responsabilty from the goverment and give it to private groups. For instance his arguement last night on airlines.
Another thing that I feel very strongly about is I watched every other canidate up there argue for more wire tapping to "protect" us from terrorists. I'm sorry but wiretapping becoming a common occurance really and honestly doesn't sit well in the least with me. It throws up a huge number of red flags with me. I don't think our goverment should have the right to do that under any circumstances.
Those are just a couple things that really screamed at me last night. I'll respond later when I get to work and have more time to give you a bit more thoughtfull post.0 -

We will have to agree to differ on this. Catching crooks/terrorists/bad guys by wire is OK with me. I live in the land of Initialed Agencies and frankly, I'm not more afraid of my neighbors than I am of the arab trying to blow up my wife at work in downtown Washington D.C. I'm more afraid of the drug dealer selling his crap to my kids. I want the insert name of agency catching internet pediphiles. I do not fear my own government because I know some of these people and they're damned good people.
Sounds like Ron Paul is afraid of the American people electing unethical leaders. Ever now and again a Bill Clinton sneaks in, but it's rare.0 -

Well said, that is the reality of the situation! Few people would vote for Mr. Paul over Hilary. The Republican side of the aisle needs a candidate that has at least a small chance of winning. Ron Paul is a nice guy but he is living in fantasy land!0
