I braved the cold and ice today ...
Don't know if y'all heard about the ice storm blowing through the mid-west. 15 degrees out, with 15 mph gusts ... by all reports on the Weather Channel we're not getting hit nearly as bad as Oklahoma City but its still a cold, windy and icy biach out there, but I couldn't stand it anymore ... had to get out and shoot the SiG and get the ACOG sighted in.

Shooting off the bench, forgot my bag so I used a log for front support, and even though I was bundeled up, my fingers and eyes got cold quickly ... I took a 3'x 3' sheet of butcher paper in hopes I would't have to waste any time and I started at 100 yards ... The iron sights got me on the 3'x 3' but not the 8.5" x 11" target. Shooting the same load I shoot my AR varmint gun, a 69 Sierra, I'm pretty happy with it but looking forward to a little warmer weather.
I was really afraid that, because I've desired a SiG-55X gun for so many years, that it wouldn't live up to expectations ...
... but it is [8D]

[}:)]
Your brave to go out in that crap0 -
Boy, you're truely a dedicated gun "NUT".[:0]
Isn't that ACOG great? My son has one on his M-4 and I was impressed. However, it don't take much to impress some old doddering
red necks.[:I]
Those holes out in the white, do you call them fliers...or shivers?
I just can't imagine what they would have to hide out there today to get me out there.0 -
Nice groups. I was going to very supprised if that were with surplus ammo. With hand loads I belive it. 0 -

Hi Scotty!
I'm going to go with shivers ... at least until the weather warms up [;)]
When's the next show?
Ya think maybe we can get another prayer meeting at Golden Corral?0 -
You went out in THIS weather? [:0]
I'm not so sure about you any more. [}:)][;)][:D][:D]0 -
70 and sunny here in Alabama today...put 20 through the AR for the heck of it...
This may be a stupid question (mine usually are) but isnt it bad on the gun to shoot when its that cold? I'm just thinking of the barrel getting really hot, really quick, then really cold, really fast.

I don't think it's bad for it, barrel was never even too hot to touch ... its not like I was getting it red hot then cooling it off in the creek like I've heard of people doing with SKS's ...
... 70 and sunny, I'd have been out all day long!0 -
15 above zero? Heck I went out yesterday and fired some test rounds for function and it was about -14 degrees. 0 -

I was only out about an hour ... even if it had been -14 I still would have gone out! I was tired of waiting, add-in that I was pert near dying of cabin fever and tired of kicking myself because ... well heck, two days before yesterday (Thursday) it was like 68 degrees, but I couldn't get out then!
Hope you had as much fun as I did!0 -
Tony
You are either more dedicated a shooter or dumber than hell to get out in that weather. No longer for me in those temps.
Good shooting however.

I have to admit, I was going to go out today, but wussed out when I saw all the ice on my house windows, trees, the car, the truck.......
Looks like some pretty fair shooting.0 -
Now tell us the truth! You fired those groups in your garage at six feet and put them up to make us envious![:0][:0][;)] 0
