Concealed Carry Comfort Question
I recently received my CC license. I have an air weight Taurus 651SHC in .357 it's titanium so the weight is not too bad, although too heavy to toss in a front dress slacks pocket,the problem is the size of the gun, it creates some difficulty in carrying here in the south concealed. If I try and stick it in a back pocket it's too big and same for front, makes difficult to sit without removing each time I get in my vehicle. I bought a Fobus paddle holster and that would be fine in the winter as I can cover with a shirt but in Summer here we usually where tank tops or such due to the unbearable heat. I thought an ankle type holster would work but even with the airlight it slides down my leg and won't stay tight. I have a .22 Mag derringer that is VERY comfortable in my pocket but I don't feel it is a legitimate carry weapon caliber, I really didn't want to drop down in bullet caliber to a tiny .32 or .380 but to carry in any practical manner these seem the only solution. Any other suggestions?

I carry my Airweight in the front pocket of my cargo shorts here in AZ. It doesn't get any hotter anyplace else in the USA than it does here at 116 to 118 degress in the summer. And it carries just fine. Same with my Kahr PM9.
The trick, I believe, is to modify your wardrobe slightly to accomodate carrying concealed. Fuller-cut pants or shorts might be helpful. Pleated pants may also help.
Being chubby, I don't wear belt holsters all that well and for obvious reasons. The DeSantis Pocket Nemesis - for under $20 - is probably one of the very best CC pocket holsters out there. It's secure, breaks up the gun's outline and is soft, supple and lightweight. Also, it stays put in your pocket if you draw the gun out. I bought one for every gun I own. And, yes, I already own some $40, $50 and $65 leather and synthetic pocket holsters that pretty much sit in a drawer and collect lint from my socks.
As for an ankle holster, you may need to buy the one that has the leg garter at the top, i.e. a velcro strap that secures around your leg above the calf and just under the knee so that the rig doesn't slide down your leg.

Depending on your build and body type, you could try back of the waist band. I use an Uncle Mike's for my Model 36 S&W. I can wear it all day, sitting and even driving. 0 -
I have the same problem. I live in SE GA and work down to central FL. Because we have 90%+ humidity in the summer the heat index hits 110-115 on a regular basis. I wear cargo style shorts with a banded t-shirt that is designed to be worn outside. I carry my .380 PPK/S Walther or my J frame .38 revolver, depending on the degree of damger in the part of a town I'm working in. The J frame with .38 Federal HydraShok +P makes me feel real safe. You need new pants! My wife has finally learned to stop buying me new pants (without me there to try them om). Bring your ccw with you in the dressing room and try them out with your weapon in the pocket. Most dressing rooms have full length mirrors, so you can see right there if they'll work or not. I look for pleated slacks that aren't too "drapey". (now there's a metrosexual word I NEVER thought I'd be using
I have a leather Bianchi ankle holster for a small frame revolver that is very comfortable. In south Texas I usually carry a full size gun like a Sig 228 in a high belt holster wearing jean shorts and an untucked X-large T-Shirt or Hawian shirt. I also have a North American Arms Guardian with a leather pocket holster that conceals well. 0 -
Sounds like you are progressing down the path that most of us go when we first get our permits.
I started with my S&W model 38 airweight with crimson trace laser. I am short so It is much harder for me to hide a revolver than for a 6' guy with larger pants pockets.
I tried the belly band, the small of the back, the forbus paddle, Galco front pocket and even a cross draw Kramer. They all work fine in the winter months when I am wearing a coat. Summer comes a revolver will print on a shirt or light jacket, vest and I don't feel comfortable with that.
I am not a LEO so firepower is not quite as important to me. The odds of me getting into a gunfight are slim.
Did the same holster routine with my Kimber lightweight 45 compacts and other carry guns. Glock, Sigs, etc.
My sig 232 came the closest to working out for me.
But I finally settled on the kel-tec 380 after trying the 32 kel-tec and seecamp. Its a plactic gun, inexpensive to purchase and reliable. If I had to defend myself and then turn it in to the police it would not be the end of the world. Many times they never give your gun back, its in the evidence locker for life.
The kel-tec is lightweight and very flat. You can drop it into your front pocket in a leather or fabric holster and forget its there. At seven yards it will print a nice head sized target, double action and very fast. It will work for most defensive city situations.
