Which one do you prefer?
Pick one of the two...not anything that's not pictured.

Left: .308 WIN (7.62x51mm), Right: .30-06 SPRG (7.62x64mm)

Right - 30-06, mostly because it is the caliber I decided to use many years ago as my primary hunting cartridge. 0 -

.308 here.... 0 -
Depends on the intended target, if I'm going after paper to 1000 yards, varmits, deer, pig or blackbear I'll take the .308. But if I'm shooting paper to 1000 yards, varmits, deer, pig or blackbear I would want a 30-06. 0 -

.308...it'll do anything the '06 will do and with less powder. 0 -
I know what we should do. Lets make a new round and we can call it the 308-06. It'll combine the best attributes of both rounds.[:D][;)] 0 -

The 7.5x55 Swiss or the 7.7x58 Arisaka (necked to .308), loaded to modern pressures, would either one make it unnecessary to create a new cartridge. The 7.65 Mauser, also loaded with .308 bullets, would do the trick pretty well, too. [:D]
My vote's for the '06.0 -
30-06 since the 308 is a wannabee that can't quite live up to its parent. 0 -
