Pet Peeve - Dogs
Just relieving some frustration --- People that do the things that they do.
The situation --- This morning my lady calls the office. Three dogs are raising cain with the horses. She cannot run them off. I rush home & find one grown dog & two good sized pups barking and chasing the horses. I did not want to kill them so I got pretty close & shot (shotgun) up in the air. The grown dog starts to run off & the pups sit down and look at me. I waited until the big one was 50 yds or more & I peppered it. The pups melted over into a horse stall & sat down looking at me. I called the sheriff to see if an animal control officer would come & pick them up. None will leave the city limits. If I would bring them into the city, one "might" meet me and take them off my hands.
Obviously, these dogs were "dumped" yesterday nearby. I personally detest anyone who will "dump" an animal and require someone (me) to do the dirty work for them. I consider such a person as a gutless coward and would much rather use the shotgun on them than on the dogs.

Far to common....People want a dog till they get a dog, then there morals shine through!!!! 0 -
In a situation like that I just save time & money. 3 shots, 3 holes and 3 problems solved. We do not tolerate anyone's dog in the cattle or sheep lots. Anything that steps inside our hotwire is fair game. On the flip side, I would have no problem burrying one of my own dogs (we have two) if we found them running the sheep or cattle. 0 -
Caught a lady down by Wichita doing that with a young Scotish Deer Hound once. She was pulled up to a pasture gate in order to turn around, so I blocked her with my truck. The exchange went something like this.
What the @*%$ do you think you're doing?
First I'm gonna' catch the dog, then I'm calling the sheriff. (this was when she turned on the tears).
But I didn't know he was going to get so big.
A dog like this must have come from a breeder. Did you fail to pay attention to the size of thier dogs?
But I didn't think he would get as Big as thiers are.
Somebody will find him and take him in.
I doubt that, most likely the fella' who ownes them cattle will shoot him.
Some people are just plain stupid. Makes ya' want to reach out and touch them, with something like a pick handle.0 -
People who dump dogs out make me sick. They need to do 12 hours a day for a week in the stocks. 0 -

Same here, if I had stock. As it is, if it's a neighbors dog
I'll give them two warnings...like barking their heels with the .22 as
they leave, third strike (which rarely happens) they're downed.0
