Just received the new prescription plan in the mail, not due to become effective till 2006, then it will cost the average person on SS around another 35.00 per month, plus paying for the medicine, it isnt going to be mandatory to use this , as of this writing, however you and I know the government will eventually force all of us on to the plan,

I dont need their plan, so am opting out on it at this time, because all it would save me would be 25% of the cost of the medicines, With my military plan and social security, my cost is only 3.00 for any prescription now.

They will pay up to 75% up to 2,250 after yameet the 250 deductible

Then they will pay 95% after you have spent more than 3,600.00

Dont seem like we are getting any deal here.

A retired gentleman went to the social security office to apply for Social Security.

The woman behind the counter asked him for his driver's license to verify his age. He looked in his pockets and realized he had left his wallet at home. He told the woman that he was very sorry but he seemed to have left his wallet at home. "I will have to go home and come back later." The woman says, "Unbutton your shirt." So he opens his shirt revealing curly silver hair. She says, "That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me" and she processed his Social Security application.

When he gets home, the man excitedly tells his wife about his experience at the social security office. She says, "You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability too."

Some truth about our so called social Security. You democrats can't fight the truth, but you can pass it to your democratic friends if you care about truth. Gary

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the federal government to "put away," you may be interested in the following:

Q: Which party took Social Security from an independent fund and put it in the general fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratic-controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which party put a tax on Social Security?
    A: The Democratic party.

Q: Which party increased the tax on Social Security?
A: The Democratic Party with Al Gore casting the deciding vote.

Q: Which party decided to give money to immigrants?
A: That's right, immigrants moved into this country and at 65 got SSI Social Security. The Democratic Party gave that to them although they never paid a dime into it.

Then, after doing all this, the Democrats turn around and tell you the Republicans want to take your Social Security.

And the worst part about it is, people believe it!

    Pass it on please!

    Social Security Earnings

As a recipient of Social Security, I am not interested in what it is
called as long as I receive the $$ I am entitled to since I paid into
it for too many years. As for those in government who stole our
money, exactly when will we be seeing that come back to us? Don't
tell us it is running out. You put other people in jail for stealing
other people's money. It's about time you paid up or join the
    jailbirds!

    Subject: Social Security Earnings
SOCIAL SECURITY NOW CALLED 'FEDERAL BENEFIT PAYMENT' /ENTITLEMENT!

Have you noticed, your Social Security check is now referred to as a
    "Federal Benefit Payment"?

I'll be part of the one percent to forward this.

I am forwarding it because it touches a nerve in me, and I hope it will in you.

Please keep passing it on until everyone in our country has read it.

The government is now referring to our Social Security checks as a
    "Federal Benefit Payment.";
This is not a benefit - its earned income!
Not only did we all contribute to Social Security but our employers did too.

It totaled 15% of our income before taxes.
If you averaged $30K per year over your working life, that's close to
    $180,000 invested in Social Security.

If you calculate the future value of your monthly investment in social security ($375/month, including both your and your employer's contributions) at a meager 1% interest rate compounded monthly, after 40 years of working you'd have more than $1.3+ million dollars saved! This is your personal investment .

Upon retirement, if you took out only 3% per year, you'd receive
$39,318 per year, or $3,277 per month .

That's almost three times more than today's average Social Security
benefit of $1,230 per month, according to the
Social Security Administration (Google it - it's a fact).

And your retirement fund would last more than 33 years (until you're
98 if you retire at age 65)!
I can only imagine how much better most average-income people could live in retirement if our government had just invested our money in low-risk interest-earning accounts.

Instead, the folks in Washington pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madoff ever did.
They took our money and used it elsewhere. They "forgot" that it was OUR money they were taking.
They didn't have a referendum to ask us if we wanted to lend the money to them.

And they didn't pay interest on the debt they assumed.
And recently, they've told us that the money won't support us for very much longer.
But is it our fault they misused our investments?

And now, to add insult to injury, they're calling it a "benefit," as
if we never worked to earn every penny of it.
Just because they "borrowed" the money, doesn't mean that our
    investments were a charity!
    Let's take a stand.

We have earned our right to Social Security and Medicare.
Demand that our legislators bring some sense into our government -

Find a way to keep Social Security and Medicare going, for the sake of that 92% of our population who need it and earned it.

Then call it what it is:
    Our Earned Retirement Income.

    Social Security

This is too important not to read.

A little history lesson on Social Security that the Democrats hate to hear because they love to blame the Republicans and the stupid electorate buys their lies.

    Your Social Security:

Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn't know this. It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what's what and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts!!!

Social Security Cards up until the 1980s expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes. Since nearly everyone in the United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the message was removed.

An old Social Security card with the "NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION" message.

    Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,

    No longer Voluntary

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into the Program,

Now 7.65% on the first $90,000

3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,

    No longer tax deductible

4.) That the money the participants put into the independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other
    Government program, and,

Under Johnson the money was moved to The General Fund and Spent

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

    Under Clinton & Gore
Up to 85% of your Social Security can be Taxed

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to 'put away' -- you may be interested in the following:

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

    A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US.

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

    AND MY FAVORITE:

    A: That's right!

Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.

Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

The worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it and believe that the Democrats are "for the people."

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully sure of what isn't so.

But it's worth a try. How many people can YOU send this to?

Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.

Does any one think that we American people could put a bill through Congress that required Senators, and congressmen to participate in the Social Security Program.. They do not pay into any retirement plan, but retire with huge lifetime pensions. at the tax payers expense, no expense to them..

After all they are supposed to work for us, (elected Officals)and we should determine their salary, and pension plan..

I bet if they had to enter the Social security program, they would fix it rather quickly, and I bet your benifits would tripple very soon..

According to the Social Security Act, "the purpose of Social Security is to provide insured persons with payments by way of a retirement benefit, survivors benefit, sickness benefit, and to substitute for compensation under the Workmen's Compensation Ordinance, a system of insurance against injury or death caused by accident arising out of and in the course of employment." In order to finance social security, a Social Security Fund was established, financed by contributions made by the workers and their employers. All benefits, administrative expenses, and capital expenditures are paid out from the Fund.

But according to government figures, "while Social Security takes in more than it spends right now, the situation reverses when the baby boom generation (those born between 1946 and 1964) begins to retire in 2010. Unless the system is overhauled, Social Security by 2013 will be spending more than it collects in taxes and will be broke by 2032."

I will be 69 years old in 2032. I will have paid a very large percentage of my income into a government plan and will have nothing to show for it. Accordingly, Social Security payroll deductions should end for anyone born in 1965 or later and be shifted to a 401(K) plan so they will reap the rewards of their investment when they retire. Those born in 1964 and before should continue some Social Security payroll deduction along with some government subsidy to cover the difference.

With all this talk of tax refunds fueled by a government surplus coupled with the enormous corporate tax breaks given out by our government, I am sure we could find enough money to subsidize a transition plan to save our retirement money.

I have several years to go before retirement. I am planning my retirement without Social Security because I am sure it will either not be there or will have been cut back due to all the people receiving it that never earned it.

I suppose they are there to apply for a Social Security card. They know that is one form of ID that is critical to have to gain employment in the US.

My Social Security checks are coming fine and I think yours will too, but your children will pay a heavy tax for this program.

Remember when Pres Bush tried to pull a portion of the money out into the private sector to make it your money in your account with double the return. The Democrats screamed that he was messing with the old folks money. The truth is they want to keep in in the Pool, in the general fund so they can give it to anyone they choose. If it becomes privatized it will be earmarked in your name, they don't want that to happen.

The way the system works now more and more people are tapping into the "Pool" that never paid into the system in the first place. Government covers that up, they don't tell anyone the statistics about how many old parents of immigrants or disabled young folks from Mexico that are currently getting benefits. I am not sure but the school programs for children now labeled with ADD and ADHD are labeled as such to tap into programs to fund their speical programs which may come out of the social security pool. A back door way to get more money for the schools system.
