    Education lobby powerful?
I believe this to be an overstatement.
Consider what the average college professor makes compared to other professionals with advanced degrees, not to even mention public school teachers. Consider also how hard it is to get local school budgets passed in many of our communitites.

I think the CCW/campus issue is clouded by the average person's well-meaing, but often ill-aimed concern for the safety of their children and less to do with any organized opposition on the part of educators.

Most educators are not pro-gun. I was married to a teacher and have several in the family. They are scared to death of firearms and teach that they are evil.

I had this conversation not three days ago with a cousin who is a teacher in my family and lives in Kansas. She hates guns and will not allow them in the house. Of course her husband has a charter arms 44 special hidden away and she is not aware of this fact.

I do think they are afraid that a student would get mad and drill them if guns were allowed in the classroom. Educators tend to lean to the liberal side in this day and age and guns are now demonized as politically incorrect by that group.
