Remember my complaint about a non-paying bidder?

Well, it turns out the guy was on his honeymoon and had other things on his mind. [;)]

I guess that is one of the few excuses I could understand. [:p]

Anyway, i apologise for badmouthing him on the forum. He contacted me and was very professional and even offered to pay the listing and final value fees. I canceled the non-paying bidder alert with GB and changed my feedback for him.

    Unfortunately I had already relisted the auction by the time he got in touch with me. As always I listed it at $1 with no reserve. It had already been bid up to $160 and according to GB policy if I ended the auction early I would be obligated to sell it to the high bidder. So i am just letting the auction run. I told the guy he is free to bid on it again if he wants.

    Why did he bid if he knew he was going to be unavailable when the auction ended? He knew he was leaving on his honeymoon, right?

    He put in a bid but did not think he would win. He was very apologetic about it so I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

    While it baffles me that anyone would even bid knowing they wouldn't be around to complete the transaction if they won, I appreciate sellers like you that will at least consider giving someone the benefit of the doubt.

    i always bid on auctions ending when i about to do something important and won't be around, but who knows it could have been a spur of the moment thing

    The guy probably bid on it in hopes the deal would be sealed before he was legal to his new ball and chain. After the wedding it would be a long, long, loonng time before he'd see the purchase of another gun. Dang wimmin anyways! [:D][:D][:D]

    I'm usually staring at the computer screen for the last hour of the auction if I am winning and I want it. I don't bid when I can't be there. That said, if I have an emergency and miss it, I hope the seller will be that kind to me. Nice tread there bigtire.
