    Nope, no regulation.
    It's their business.
It's their option to do transfers at all.
They can charge what they want.

Nope it's wide open. Look around for a more reasonable one.

Thankfully, no regulation. It is "what ever the market will bear" as it should be in a capitalistic society.

NO! Its their business and can charge what they want. If I went to one and he ask that kind of money to do a few minutes of paperwork I would make it clear that he would not ever get any of my business and also my friends would be aware also.

I have a friend that owns a gunshop and I pay him 20 bucks to do a transfer if I dont buy from him. The trick is I do buy from him more than any transfers I have him do.

I have another friend that has a shop and all he does is transfers for the locals around here, I think he may have 5 guns in his store.

There are more ways than one to make a buck in the FFL game other than to try and rape the customers.

I can understand where these dealers are coming from, but the way I look at it is that when I offer to do transfers for a reasonable price, I bring new customers in...and those customers usually give me their business in the future...

    I charge $10.[8D]

And because I'm cheaper than most in my town, I get a lot of transfers. Rather have it than nothing. Plus, once they get here they usually want some other work done as well. Win-win in my book.

I find it better to please a customer and have them return than to pee them off and never see them again. A transfer fee is basically FREE money as you dont have any money invested and very little of your time.

And there are two smart, customer oriented FFLs right up there. The $75-$100 guys will fold and it will be everyone elses fault.

I guess my biggest complaint is they charge 75 because they want me to buy their guns, but they dont offer the older items I want. I guess I'll have to start ordering my reloading supplies, boots, jackets and parts off the internet to save the difference.

[8D]--Yo Digital-Remember that we are in California--

--My FFL charges $85 per purchase and DOESN'T sell firearms, but he DOESN'T charge any sales tax on my out-of-state purchases--

--Trouble is that may change pretty soon, there are 5 others around me that ALL charge sales tax and substantial xfer fee --so don't complain TOO MUCH!!!

...and I thought 45-50 bucks was a lot! That's BS prices...I'd have told him that too. I stop being friendly when someone tries to screw me...[;)]

My FFL varies a bit on transfers for me.

Highest is $20, most of the time it is $10, and accationally he gives me freebe transfers (the freebes equal the $20 ones).

But I also spend alot of money with him too be it ammo or other supplies. So he is more than willing to work with me.

Just trying to remain thankful for the little things, because there are a lot of them: $20-25 around here.

And they have all those hungry invaders to support. Wait, that
burden is put upon all of us, so that can't be it.
