One too many beers at the lake while boating, I assume.

Call me unfair, but the first thing I assumed was that alcohol was a factor.

There's a small but nice reservoir/state park 12 miles north of my hometown. If they could spare the manpower, the Sheriff's office could probably make non-stop DUI arrests most summer weekends.

Same for me,.......friend just got the boat used, and was heading to the lake.
Had a bad spot in the winch cable, and no tie down straps.
He was pizzed about traffic or something, and took of from a red light like a bat out of hell.
Suddenly he heard horns beeping behind him, looked in the mirror, and there was hie boat sitting in the middle of a 3 lane highway![:D]

I knew a kid when I was in high school(spoiled, rich kid),who's dad bought him a new 20' Rabalo. The kid was at the station to gas her up for her maiden voyage and put the nozzle into the rod holder and filled the boat with about $50 in gas. When he realized what he did, along with the clerk and a few customers,he panicked and took off down the highway. He of course got nabbed a few miles down the road, had to have the highway closed off while a hazmat team cleaned up the mess.Never laughed so hard in my life, what a little punk that kid was.

The driver was probably turned around yelling at the kids while driving. The kids were yelling about watching out fot the pole.

Being right at a signal light, there could've been several factors at play..hmmm...
