Revolvers verses Semi-Auto's
This may have came up before not sure.I'm not trying to decide between the two What it is I just like Revolvers,I know what kind of revolvers are nice and desireables.But what I don't know is what kind of Semi-autos are desireable.I know a Colt Phyton or a S&W 29-2 chrome is desired,But somebody help me on Semi's I know I'm going to get differences in opinion on this.So lets here them.Thanks

There are many great semi-auto firearms to choose from. The Ruger P-89,90,94,95 are all guns made to last a lifetime and are very accurate and reliable. If you want to spend a couple hundred $ more try a SIG or HK. The Springfield XD are also great semi's for the money. So the choice is yours, I would go try out a few and see what you like best. Guns are tools and they ALL have their place. Some are more practical than others, some better quality...What gets me excited is the click,click,click [8D] of a single action revolver being cocked. And I'll go one step further and state for "casual" use.[^]
My collection is split pretty even between semi-auto and revolvers.
For business I prefer a 45 in a semi and 357 in a revolver[:D]0 -
Don't forget the CZ designs - hte CZ75 and the CZ97b 0 -
desirable is utterly subjective, I am desirous of neither revolver you listed. As to semi-autos, there are a ton of fine ones. Taurus 24/7, Springfield XD series, S&W M&P series, HK, Sig, Find the one that fits you best, that feels natural in your hand. Doesn't matter if it is the greatest gun ever made, if you are not comfortable with it, you won't shot well with it. 0 -
Unless you are willing to practice until you are proficient with a semi auto, a revolver is the only way to go.... and even then you should practice.
One thing you must always remember.... The bad guy already has his weapon pulled, cocked and loaded with safety off. You ain't gonna have time to jack one into the chamber or fumble with the safety. As the Duke would say, "you got to pull that hogleg and fire and fire it faster that the other guy"
Now if you are just looking for a collectable ... Get yourself a 1911 documented Officer owned US Property in primo condition!!! They ain't gonna go down because every freaking red blooded American gun collector has this near the top of his wish list.0 -

Double action semi-auto..9mm..anything Fabrik im Deutchland (HK, Walther, SIG)
Single action revolver..any caliber..Ruger Bisley
Double action revolver..any caliber..older (pre-1990) Smith & Wesson

What do you plan to do with trhe hand gun? Out in the back country the revolver oput classes the semi except in the case of the full power 10mm. In the city for self defense the semi is equal to and because of fire power excells the revolver. In the semi auto catagory you have the 9mm, 45acp 40S&W, 357 sig, 10mm. All will do the job. In a revolver I like th 357mag and the 44mag. In the semi I like the 10mm. My 2 cents [8D] 0 -

Ask yourself what is the likelihood of ever being in a self defense situation where you are going to need to fire more than two rounds. Unless, of course, you get in a shootout with cops and have to match them round for round. [}:)] 0 -
Forget that reloading every 5 to 6 shots game. A man can hit just as good with any semi-auto if he practices and it fits him well. I like revolvers but I don't believe i would ever purchase another unless it's just too good of a deal to pass up. 0 -
I have a nine shot revolver (H&R 922), and it works just fine for all I'm doing - plinking!
I may pick up an old Hi Standard semi-auto .22 because they are also fun to shoot. That is what I grew up shooting. Wish they were not so expensive!0 -
There is only one way to solve the revolver/auto dilemma: Get a few of each. Shoot a jillion rounds through them; see which you like best. I'll bet you'll keep both. 0 -
