I don't like it any more than you but unfortunatley there aren't too many "american" cars anymore. There are more american made parts in the Toyota Camry (Made in KY) than there are in a Ford Mustang. A lot of the Dodge cars are made in Mexico. It sucks but whatcha gonna do? When I bought my Silverado back in '01 it was made in Canada.
On the plus side of Gibbs going to Toyota, it's gonna be a hoot to watch Stewart try to win races the first couple of seasons after they make the switch. Stewart doesn't have a lot of patience and until they get the cars figured out he's going to be fun to watch.0 -
I don't know what they where thinking haven't they been watching waltrip he11 i think he has sat out more race's than he has driven. But if anyone can win in a toy it is my man tony. I wish them luck it's going to be hard for anyone to beat Hendrix next season reguardless of their choosen ride 0 -
Agree. If anybody can win in a Yota it's Gibbs and Stewart. He can win in just about anything with wheels. 0 -
Forget Toyota.. I think it is going to be fun to watch Tony and Kyle Busch race for the same team.. [:D] 0 -
Thank's for the chance to up my post count. 0 -

I like NASCAR, Chevy, Dodge, Ford, Toyota and soon China Motors can race what ever the hell they want. It is fine with me.
Did I get my post count up?0 -

Ljwrench,
I'm guessing that there won't be much "getting the cars figured out". I'm sure that Toyota, like Dodge, entered the truck series to get a lot of things "figured out" before jumping into the Cup series. Dodge was fairly competitive from the start in Cup racing and I wouldn't be surprised to see Toyota to do at least as well.0 -
Gibbs will do find next year. Remember...they upped the full intro of the COT to next year. All teams will be on the same page with the new car. Tony will keep smart mouthing...and winning.
I have no problem with Toyota getting into NASCAR. I'm waiting for Nissan to make the leap into the truck series! Dad has a Titan and absoultely loves it! Made right outside Nashville.0 -
There will be NO Fords, Chevy's, Dodges, or Toyota's in cup racing.
They will all be the COT.0 -
I wish I had quit junior high and married my first cousin so that I, too, could appreciate NASCAR. 0 -

Did your brother marry her before you got to her? Oh well. You probably have an aunt or two that is eligible. [:D]0 -
If Toyota can put cars in the top 10-15 this year, with at mediocer teams like Bill Davis, and Michael Waltrip, you can bet they will be a top runner with a well established team. Look at their motor sports past in champ car, and the Craftsman Series. They started out with a foot in the door, then went to a well established team, and never looked back. Give Gibbs some credit too. If anyone thinks they did not do any testing before this decision was made, they are foolhardy. The basic rolling cahssis are all the same with the exception of the motor, transmission, and a few minor parts like the spindals, and brakes.
If anyone can take a Toyota to the front it will be someone on the Gibbs team...any one of them, but predominantly Zippy, and Stewart.0 -

Let me guess...the sheep won out over your cousin?0 -

Frankly that's not much of an endorsement. The only thing preventing Waltrip from becoming another Kyle Petty is his race team. I wouldn't hire him to run a soap box car. Stewart will probably be good for Toyota. Maybe they can jump out of Dodge's footsteps of starting out with drivers on their downward slide.0 -

Missed out on that one by marrying your sister instead? [;)]0
