I hope this isn't the majority of Americans.[:(] Americans need to wake up and realize what's going on around them.

Some of those had to be paid actors. I refuse to believe adults could be so stupid. I'd expect most junior high students to answer the majority of these questions correctly. Of course, if you survey enough people and cut out the ones who know anything, it's going to look like we're all DAs, which appears to be the aim of the show.

Ever listen to Glenn Beck? On fridays he does a bit called "Moron Trivia" to predict the winner of a selected game. They contact convience store owners from the 2 cities and ask hard questions like "how many sides to a octagon", "name 4 states other than the one you live in", "who is John Kerry", "what overweight lesbo is having a public argument with what casino owner" etc. What makes it real sad is that a lot of them actualy have no clue

Sadly, I believe that a large percentage of Americans are exactly that stupid.

I do imagine however, that this show was very selective in cutting out footage of any American who seemed to be intelligent or knowledgeable on the questions asked.

After all, that would not support the mission of the show, now would it?[;)]

Well, I can't imagine being that ignorant. I wonder if it really is bliss for them?

How can anybody be THAT oblivious to the news? You'd seriously have to not watch it at all to not be able to pick those countries out or not be able to retain any information. In that case, I don't know how they'd be employable.

You're probably right but when I see something like this, it worries me what the actual percentage of morons out there might be. I have no respect for these dopes. Not even funny. It's pathetic. They oughta be ashamed of themselves! I can't imagine how simple of lives these people must lead.

Just a comment here, not aimed at anyone or at any post.

Stupidity and ignorance are not one and the same as the latter can be dealt with through education.

Some people do not listen to the news or read the papers and magazines and so they are ignorant of names, faces, events, gossip, etc.

Some people have learning disabilities or lack certain cognitive skills. From my own firsthand experience in the corporate world, you would be surprised to learn that there are many native-born Americans who cannot read at all, cannot sign their name, cannot add two numbers together. Functionally illiterate.

Some individuals suffer from dyslexia too or even a very mild form of autism. Yet, they can build homes, fix machinery, assemble sophisticated components, operate some serious equipment, make furniture, etc.

Seems that they've had to work hard to hide their inadequacies over the years to get to wherever they are. I believe that many Americans take their own intelligence and formal education for granted at times.

Do you honestly think they would air anyone who did answer the questions when the purpose was to bash all American's as stupid/ignorant? I could answer them as I'm sure all of you could, and we are "average" Americans.

I wonder how many people they had to talk to to find the "cream of the stupid."

Did you catch the part where he tells the woman to remember to vote liberal?

I expect it was a little of both. I don't think they had to look very hard to find these people, but the interviewer went past misleading and crossed over into deceptive. When you show somebody a map with Australia labeled North Korea and Tasmania labeled South Korea, it could cause a person who is not knowledgeable about geography to select the wrong country.

If a stranger came up to me on the street and claimed to be John Howard, I probably wouldn't believe him. But then again, if John Howard came up to me on the street and claimed to be John Howard, I probably wouldn't believe him either. The fact is I couldn't pick John Howard out of a lineup.

I could make an argument that the man who said there have been three world wars was correct, and the people who said we should go to war with France weren't that far wrong.

There was one funny one though. I laughed out loud when the guy running in place said "OK, I'm a little bit mixed up on the Palestinians and the Israelis. OK, which one is throwing the rocks?"

When I was in high school we had a fullback who was far from stupid, but was uneducable. He knew every play in his head and even came up with a few of his own, but couldn't put it on the board or on paper if his life depended on it. He could sign his name, but just couldn't get past that.

Unfortunately, he got a football scholarship, Bachelors Degrees in Education, and a job as a high school teacher.

In order to test the theory of dumb Americans, I asked my girlfriend the same questions. She got all of them correct, except for the following:

Name a country that begins with "U"?
Who is in the coalition of the willing?
What is the currency used in the United Kingdom?

not to sound as if i am attacking anyone here, because i am not. this clip shows that most americans are ignorant about current events due to the fact that they do not take the time to educate themselves. most people rely on the mainstream media, which is given to slant in the direction of the beliefs of the reporters and editors, and are not given all the facts to make informed arguments or statement. this saddens me.[V]
