dell computers rant
Purchased a dell laptop a while back for my wife,never had anything but trouble from it.Wireless never works outside the house.She has repeatedly complained to dell but with no satisfaction.Got a courtesy call from them yesterday to ask how she liked her laptop so she told them it was rubbish.They gave her a phone number and told her they would send somebody out to fix things.She phoned the number was on for 3/4 of an hour still no joy.They want her to take the hard drive out and send it to them,when she asked them to e-mail her to put it in writing that her taking the drive out would not affect the warranty they refused.Funnily enough my son purchased a Toshiba at the same time never had a bit of trouble.Needless to say I will never have any dell products in my house again.

Arguably there are probably more Dell computers in use around the country than any other brand, so there are naturally going to be a lot of opinions and experiences, good and bad. However, if you start a thread complaining about Toshiba, IBM, HP, MAC, etc. you will probably get the same mix of responses, some like them and some don't; similar to our experiences with and our opinions of cars and guns!
Obviously some in this thread, including me, have had good luck with Dell and I suspect we will buy another Dell when the time comes to upgrade.
buschmaster makes very good points in his post, its not always the hardware!
So, if you've had a bad experience or bad experiences with Dell or if you simply don't like Dell, you have lots of choices and can get something else; and good luck, hope it works for you!0 -

I just bought another Dell. Never had any issues with the ones have had. 0 -
the farmer never had a problem with his dell. 0 -
dont care what anyone thinks all I know is if they want my wife to take out the hard drive herself but wont back that up with an e-mail stating her warranty wont be affected sounds dishonest to me. 0 -
my wife has one to and I dont like it. Its problem child. I have had two HPs' with no issues out of the ordinary. Macs suck because they cost more, programs are hide to find, and nothing is written for them 0
