Capital One
I've had a CC w/ them for about 6 months. First thing that went wrong was that I made a payment online for $500 and they lost it. OK, one strike. I've been making phone payments since then and they are waiving the $10 fee for this.
A week ago I saw a couple charges that I had nothing to do with. I called the recipients and got that straightened out, then called C.O.
and spoke with a guy (believe it or not) named Stephanie to inform them of the fraud. He left off informing me that he would be cancelling the account and sending me a new card. After I hung up I called back because I had forgotten to update my address. The representative I spoke with told me that my account was still active. I again asked her to consider the card stolen and she told me that she'd be sending me a new card. OK. Then three twelves at work and I access my account online and see yet another fraudulent charge. I call C.O. and they tell me that my account was reactivated because of the new charge. I flipped out as this policy sort of makes reporting a card stolen a complete waste of time. After some screaming I finally had proof that the account was cancelled as I could not log on to their site subsequent to this call. They insisted that I still had to dispute the charge despite the fact that I had reported the card stolen not once but twice prior to the posting of the charge. Fine, I call the site that charged my account, Auction Monster.
I get this flaky b!tch who tells me she needs to look up my account. I tell her that I don't have an account. She insists and I give her my name and address and finally the defunct CC #. Long story short she says she can't help me without a fax of my bank statement because my name and address don't match my account. I remind her that I do not have an account with them. She repeats that she needs a fax of my bank statement. I tell her to put a supervisor on. After only a minute or so on hold the same flake comes back on and tells me that my account has been credited. I asked her if her supervisor informed her that she was wrong about needing my bank statement and she was just trying to give me the brush off earlier. She didn't really ahve an answer for that. Then I ask her why they didn't verify the billing address from whoever used my card no. with my bank. It isn't their policy she tells me. It should be, I tell her and finally hang up.
Has anyone else had problems like this w/ C.O? I suspect that the payment they lost was credited to someone else's account and that the errors in debiting my account may have started there.

S U C K S...
8 Years with two separate credit accounts... NO ISSUES, EVER.
And their business practices are to treat people like trash.
I closed the accounts and I explained I'm just not trash. [}:)]0 -
Capitol One is one of the most stolen cards out there. 99.9% of the internet fraud emails/sites are from Capital One or Chase. I would never have a card with either company. 0 -
I have made purchases on this card from MSC and Falcon Arms, both of whom required my accurate billing address. This Auction Monster site and the others didn't care. Could have easily prevented any problems. 0 -
I've had a CapOne account for several years and also pay online. When you pay online you have the opportunity to PRINT yourself a receipt. Not printing a receipt is not to wise. If you had printed one, that lost payment could have been corrected easily. 0 -
I had a capitol one... or was it chase? I forgot. but, I called to ask something about my account, and they refused to tell me anything until I gave them my social security number "for security purposes". wouldn't take any other info to verify the account. supervisor gave me the same thing.
end of card.
later I found out they were pro-gun-control.0 -
