Transfer fees and shipping and all that stuff is always a pain, but it's part and parcel when dealing with any sort of online shopping (not just guns, either - shipping will eat you alive on electronics).

If you've got the time, I'd suggest keeping an eye on the auctions. Sometimes you'll find a peach deal that will be worth your while.

I usually find such deals AFTER I've decided I couldn't wait anymore and paid retail. [B)]

Good luck on finding that Mauser. They're sweet guns.

I'd go the gun show route since in this case it seems to be less of a hassle. Online buying, I have found, seems to work best on items that have a fairly low demand coupled with a relatively high supply.

The way to buy those kind of guns is to get an 03 FFL (C&R license). It costs $30 for 3 years and you can order C&R guns right to your door. You need to fill out the forms for the FFL (about 15 min), send $30 with the app, wait about 2-3 weeks and you should have it. Many other companies give dealer discounts to C&R holders. On you first purchase you will make your money back in savings. Do a Search on C&R, read a lot then ask questions.

A solution would be to purchase on line from sellers living within or nearby your own zip code.

Could someone please tell me how to do this search on the auction side?
