Another story about everyones Most Lovable Dogs
SEATTLE -- A neighborhood is reeling after two pit bulls viciously attacked a man and his 2-year-old dog.
Bob Walston said he and his dog, Maggie, were taken by surprise by the pit bulls while they were out walking on Tuesday morning. He said there was no owner in sight.
"Those pits we're going so fast, and they just grabbed Maggie. And I started screaming, 'help help, someone help' as loud as I could," he said.
Bob grabbed Maggie to try to save her, but he said the pit bulls refused to give up, biting him as he tried to get away.
"Bob comes rushing through the door, and he's bloody from head to toe," said Lillian Walston, his wife.
Bob got away in time, but it was too late for Maggie, who died shortly after the attack.
Now her dog toys sit, untouched, as flowers from the neighbors crowd the Walstons' counter.
Bob and Lillian are still trying to say goodbye to Maggie, who has been laid to rest in the backyard. Even though they're filled with sadness over Maggie's death, the couple says the attack could have been much worse.
"We were lucky in that it wasn't one of the grandchildren that were killed. These were two fierce dogs. They would have mauled our grandchildren to death," Lillian said.
Following the attack, neighbors caught one pit bull immediately and the Seattle Animal Shelter picked up the other one on Wednesday. Bob and other witnesses identified the dogs, but the pit bulls' likely fate does little to ease the Walstons' new fears.
"It changed our whole life. It'll never be the same," Lillian said.
But Don Jordan with the shelter said measures will be taken to prevent future tragedies.
"The city is going to make every effort to make sure that these animals are not returned into the neighborhood and are, in fact, destroyed," he said.
The owners of the quarantined dogs face fines of up to $1,000 for letting his pit bulls run loose.

I think i put it like this....I will not trust any pitts if not treated w the same precautions as policedogs.

Agree with the above. I don't like those dogs, but if someone wants one, that's fine as long as they take care of and control it. If the thing even looks sideways at me it'll be hanging on their mailbox in the morning.0 -

I have a pit bull/mastiff mix. He is not by any means a evil dog. he weighs 140lbs and is nothing but a big puss, he plays with a pug all day and gets dominated and never snaps bites or growls at anybody!i have him VERY well trained. i agree with those of you out there that say that the owner should take full responsibility for his dogs actions. if my dog got out and some how snapped and started biteing and mawling people or other animals, i would take FULL responsibility for what happen. All animals have bad seeds. Lap rats are more likely to bite and snap at people than a pit is, the difference is obviously the size and damage it can inflict. i personally been bitten by a lap rat several times in my life, but have never pulled my Mossberg out and used it for skeet shooting! Lets outlaw chihuahua's then! Bottom line is, you dont like pits thats fine dont ever own one, but dont punish the whole breed based on bad ownership and bad training. And dont pass judgement becasue your igorant!

my 25 yrs old step daughter just lost a lawsuit against a rotty owner after it torn out over half of her calf muscle out and nerve damage in her arm left her in the hospital for 6 days and appr over 100 grand in bills . the owner was tolded by the realtor to get rid of the dog because it was a known to attack for no reason and against lease policy if you can blame the dog or hold the owner responible who is to blame 0 -

how about dangerous cars? or dangerous weapons? how about "assault rifles"?
I have never heard of a dangerous car or a dangerous Assault rifle. I have never known a car or rifle to jump a fence or dig a hole to get out to hurt someone or something. Only the Idiot behind the wheel of the car, or the Butt of the gun is the dangerous thing about them..
Pit Bulls are dangerous animals, as most any animal can be if not handled right. But pit bulls have proven themselves to be the worse breed as far as attacking something for no apparent reason.0 -

As 4.7 million Americans are attacked by dogs each year, and 500 children a day need emergency hospital treatment after a dog attack, I'm surprised a politician hasn't stepped forward to introduce some sort of control over the sale and ownership of dogs.
The statistics are from the Center for Disease Control, so they must be true.[;)]0 -

My friends two 800.00 a piece Rottweillers were both put down by the humane society after they got out of his fenced yard and attacked a 68 year old jogger and tore his leg up bad enough to require a hospital stay.
Both dogs were captured and put down and my friend was required to pay the hospital bill.
