Synthetic Cubism, ala Georges Braque but like one of Picasso's simpler Analytical Cubist works, "Pipes of Pan" (Picasso and Braque developed Cubism).
synthetic cubism used brighter colors (compared to analytical cubism, as in P.o.P. above) and had that artsy-fartsy art-deco look. yes, I think those guys would have seen some merit in the picture at least as an intermediate explanation to a more articulated version.

the whole "art" thing is about the interpretation of what an artist sees, then what the viewer gets out of it.
so, knowing what the original picture looked like, a viewer can say "that's how he saw the dog, that's what the lamp looked like to him, that's how the lighting/shading made him feel" etc. years ago, before photoshop, if someone were to paint such a picture it would be viable art. nowadays anyone can look at it and say "hey! they just hit a button and made a picture look wacky, that's all". it used to take skill to make a picture look wacky.
still, such photoshop creations differ from cubism because a flat picture can't give a sense of viewpoints from different angles.

this is a patchwork of views from different angles. cubist art can get much more bizarre and difficult to interpret than this, but this is a good basic example.
but the photoshop picture isn't all chopped up like that, you say, how can it be cubist art? because what is going on is, the artist is considering each element of the picture seperately. drawing it from different viewpoints makes it much more obvious, but it doesn't have to be so.
the biggest problem with the photoshopped picture (above) is that it's too difficult to interpret what the artist was looking at in the first place. that's why I was saying "they would have seen some merit in the picture at least as an intermediate explanation to a more articulated version".
so it is somewhat viable art, and that's why.0
