    These seem to me to be ok for plinking but not much else. If you're trying to make a quick shots and changing direction it would be better than a scope but I can't see how they would be that accurate. 'Course, I've not used one.

    I don't have one of those, but I did have that kind of sight on my AR. I checked out a lot of different models before I settled on a Trijicon Reflex. (and a Trijicon ACOG NSN on my other one)

    it has the best construction, and much more importantly, it doesn't use batteries. 100% trituim powered. at the time, anyways. I don't get why ppl use Aimpoint, they look like they'd fall apart in a week. and they need batteries, and what happens when they get soaked?

    it's the right size for being a dot sight on a rifle, but if you think it's too big on top of your handgun they do have a smaller battery powered one that looks like it's specifically made for handguns. it's about as wide as the slide on a Glock, to give you a sense of scale. again, I'd choose Trijicon over any other model because of the durability.

    the one you have pictured may have a brighter/bigger reticle than the trijicons I'm showing here (or not). gotta look and see. what you decide on depends on what's more important to you.

    i have one {scope, not halo} that came on a rifle when i bought it, i would not purchase another one, it is ok, but would not trust my life with it, dollar store quality, i would gladly pay more for more

    I'm finding a lot of holo sights that look just like a rebadged NcStar. Is there a good holo sight out there for under $200?

    They are OK as long as you are in a dim room where you can see the dot. Out in the daylight its hard to pick up.

    That's what I would think, like the screen on your digital camera can be impossible to see at times when the sun is just right. Give me a good scope or the old iron sights.

    This is my thought too. I don't see the fixation with all these little funky sights and scopes. I think they're made to look "tactical" so they part you from your money. When my buddy and I go to the gun shows he immediatley gravitates to all the ARs and those little sights/scopes. Last time, after looking at one little scope that was $1600.00, I wandered around the corner and was looking at some trapdoor Springfields. He caught up with me and said "Did you see that scope? The crosshairs turn red in the dark." I said "Oh really? The crosshairs in my Leupold on my 338 turn white in the dark and it's 20 years old."
    Just my rant on those things.

    with a holographic sight, you don't have to line anything up. just put the dot on the target, and you will hit what the dot is on no matter what the orientation of your eyeball. they're lightning fast. if they were only as effective as regular post-and-notch sights, there wouldn't be much point in making them.
