Glock 26
I've asked this on the ask the experts forum, but only got one reply. I recently purchased a box of Ranger +P+ ammo at my gun shop. I didn't notice the +P+ and was wondering if I could use that in my Glock without fear of the thing blowing up in my face when I shoot it (if the need ever would arise). I am using those rounds strictly for self defense. should I use them in a different gun, or are they safe in my Glock?thanks,Alex

quite regularly. Amazing!
I tried my grand raptor and hit

Just noticed this gun yesterday for what I believe is the first time at the gun store. I don't normally look long at Glocks, but I am in the market for a smaller carry gun, and this one has very good possibilities. The small size of it is amazing, and it is 9mm, which is a step up from my Bersa .380. I was considering a Beretta 9000s, but have not heard anything good about it yet, and also an HK, but those were too big. This Glock is the perfect size. I would also like it because of the known ability of these guns to withstand anything. So some questions: Can you get night sights for this gun? How is it in terms of reliability, meaning does it tend to jam or malfunction a lot? My main concern is finding a gun that does not jam a lot, preferably not at all, because I find it hard to carry anything else except my 92FS, because it never has any problems. The caliber is good because 9mm is still somewhat cheap and I have a lot of it. I believe magazines are easy to find for this gun right? And how about taking it apart, is it easy to strip and put back together? And last one, how does the double action compare to other guns. This one is double action only, and I would prefer one that can do double/single, but I believe Glocks are all double, right? How does the trigger pull compare to say a Beretta 92FS? This may have nothing to do with your post, but look at the Kahr P9 or even PM9. Better in every aspect, than a Glock 26. Much smaller and better looking as well.
What about an XD9 subcompact?
Both are better guns IMHO.0 -

I considered an XD as well. Is that one single/double, or just double? And is the durability of the gun the same?0 -
The XD is a striker fired just like a Kahr or Glock or CZ 100 or most of the polymer pistols.
The XD's are single action, the striker is cocked on a cam, they feature a grip (1911syle) safety, and a trigger safety, ie. Glock style.0 -
Glock Rocks!!! I was never a Glock fan until I actually shot one, which coincidentally was a G26. I was amazed at its accuracy. Also with Glock you can shoot any 9MM Glock mag in that G26. In other words, your 10 shot G26 carry gun can become your 15, 17 or 33 round home defense gun. Pretty nice... Take down/disassembly? Are you kidding me? Doesn't get much easier than Glock. Do it 2-3 times and you'll have it down. As far as the trigger goes, another plus on the Glock. You don't have to let the trigger travel all the way forward to reset it so once you fire off the first round, the trigger resets itself as soon as you hear that "click" when the trigger is let travel slightly forward so you don't have that long 1/2 inch stroke. I believe most all Glocks come standard with a 5.5 lb trigger which is about perfect for a CCW gun. Another plus on Glock is that any Glock armorer (always find one at the gun shows & gun shops) can put a different trigger on it in a few minutes. Not the trigger, but the disconnect which will go down to 3.5 pounds or up to 8.5 lbs which they call the New York trigger. In my humble opinion, and I'm NOT an attorney, I would keep that trigger at the factory 5.5 setting. God forbid the unfortunate happens some attorney will say you had that gun modified intentionally to make it more efficient for killing your victim (whatever). Oh and by the way, once I shot that G26 I told you about earlier I actually traded a SIG 220 in .45 ACP for a Glock 19 which came with two 15 round mags. NICE carry gun especially for my hands. 0 -

Just looking at some XD's online here, they seem to be about $100 cheaper than a Glock, and they hold the same number of rounds. They almost look the same, but the XD has a rail, which I like, along with a larger capacity magazine, carry case, holster, the works. I might have to visit the gun store to see if they have any.0 -
I have owned a Glock 26 for almost 10 years. It has 7000+ rounds though it and with the exception of some Crappy Wolf ammo, it has fed everything else I loaded it up with 100% reliability.
The trigger pull on the Glock 26 or any other Glock takes some getting used to. It is different and hard to explain to someone that has not fired one. Go to range and rent one to see if you like it and how it fits your hands.0 -

Also, take down is a snap. Lock back the slide, rotate the takedown lever 180degrees, release the slide, pull the trigger and pull the slide off the frame.
Push slide it back on the frame, lock the slide back and rotate the lever back and you're ready to roll.
As with the Glock, they accept any size magazine for that caliber.0 -
For whatever this is worth, I dislike my Kahr PM9. Paid $700 and it shoots way low and to the left. Finnicky is how I'd describe it.
My Glock 26, on the other hand, is consistently accurate, so much so that I'm amazed at how well I actually shoot. It all comes down to how YOU shoot with a particular gun and if it fits your hand and body well.
BTW, if you field strip a new Glock 26 and a new Kahr PM9 right out of the box, you'll see how dirty the Kahr is when compared to the Glock.
Rent it before you buy it.0 -

That works just like my Bersa 380, no problem. I will see which guns they have to rent when I go back this week and try some out. So many guns, so little money. Then I need accessories, lights, night sights, magazines, more ammo, it never ends, but I have so much fun shopping for them.0 -
the XD sub in 9mm is a really nice shooter. has really and i mean really good accuruacy out the box. i carried it for 2 weeks. it was nice considering the 17rds it could old (16+1 double stack mag) but with that much ammo it was heavy. i bought a colt defender .45, much lighter and more knock down power. also the mags are interchangeable as long as its the same cal, not sure if you can use a springfield 1911 mag though, i think just XD's.
if you do go with the glock go here TRUGLO.com has the night sites you really want, and they have a good variety not only that you can order from your dealer most likely to if they don't keep them in stock. i usually find a set or two in my local store0 -

I did my homework for months before deciding on a handgun to buy. for me, I wanted something for home defense that could potentialy double as CCW later on (though it never did). Glock 26 or 27. considering those two, the G26 holds 10 rounds of about 350-400 ft. lb ammo; the G27 holds 9 rounds of 530 ft-lb ammo if I buy the right stuff. one less round, considerably more total power.
that, and the fact that most armed encounters are decided with 2, sometimes 3 shots at short range; the decision was the .40 cal. G27. which has the same dimensions and weight as the G26. you should consider a G27 instead.0 -

I will agree here, the 40caliber is considerably more powerful than the standard 9mm.
Although, the 9mm has proven itself as a manstopper as many times as the 40 or 45. The 9mm +p+ round approaches the power of a 40 but is more expensive and may do more wear on your gun than justifies the need.
I'm a through and through 40caliber fan, but I've never felt underpowered carrying a 9mm either.0 -

the Glock 27 in 40 S&W also has a lot more recoil
if you like the looks of the 26 buy it , i think you will be a happy camper

go for the glock, mine has 18,000 rounds through it, not one malfunction, and most of those where rapid fire for practice, or for competition, i see xd's every week at competitions with new people trying to put them through the fast pace we go through, and i see malfunction after malfunction, sure they work fine standing still firing maybe 2 rounds a second, slowly taking the magazine out, slowly putting another one in, but try running one like i do and it will fail, and take into consideration that the fact remains during a fire fight people have been known to empty a magazine rapid fire without knowing it, you will not find any top shooter using a xd, not even their spokesman rob letham, because they cannot do the job
mine has a 3.5# trigger, everything is interchangeable with the full size less barrel, and recoil spring
Kahr, good gun, but i do not like the 15# trigger, and is designed internally almost identical to the glock0 -
