I have to disagree with you, Brandon.

This is the way rum was meant to be:

I've never had "High Dollar" Rum, or vodka for that matter.

    I'm definitely a whisky man.

Course you're down there in the tropics where the rum flows like water. [:)]

I'll have to try some aged, good stuff.

Bacardi is a decent rum for use as a mixer, but is not very good straight up.

Thanks for the heads-up Brandon. I'm headed to the Bristol race the end of the month with a bud that is a rum drinker. I'll have a surprise for him!

Haven't tried that yet, but have tried the "Bicardi Limon" and that is very good. I work at a alcohol warehouse and now that im finally 21 I can get stuff at cost.[:D] I will get to try a lot of things in the near future and will keep ya updated. So far my favorite would still have to be Jim Beam and coke, can't beat that.

They have a few different flavors out now. Limon(lemon), Razz(rasberry), etc.

Barbancourt Rhum, 15 years old is good for a start. For mixing I like Ron Potosi from San Luis Potosi. There are some really fine rums from Guatamala, Costa Rica, as well as the Caribbean. Most any rum you find in the average liquor store is not one of the good ones.

I agree with what you're saying, He Dog, but most of us po' boys can't afford anything that good. On the other hand, if you decide you have too much, you know where to find me [;)]

Well I usually make a $40 bottle last a year, drinking a 1/2" at a time, and using my favorite cheap Puerto Rican rum to mix (Castillo).

Really, is $40 all? Not cheap, but not near as bad as I'd figured. How do you find the imported stuff?

WatermelonBacardi-w.jpgI'm-a gonna have to try it. I have to find some place that has all that in little 350 mL's or smaller, I keep buying these 750's just to taste something and I'm getting clobbered. I think they should make a 200 for ppl that like to sample different stuff, that's about right.

btw, bacardi 151 is where it's at!
yes castillo is a good cheap rum.
but if you're going for taste, why mix a 40$ with the cheap stuff, you're missing out.
Blueberry Stoli was next on my hit list.

Yikes!! are you misreading me buschy, or brain damaged?

    1. Barbancourt, at one of the better local liquor stores.

    2. Never mix with anything but ice. Drink like fine Bourbon sparingly.

3 Mix the Castillo with coke and lime or whatever you like, but never, never, never with $40 Barbancourt.

    4. You can also get 40 year old Barbancourt, but only in Haiti.

[:0][:0][:0][:0][:p] humings can't live in a place like that, the icebergs would knock you right off the street! Place that cold even the cheap stuff would be a big help!

Maybe you better come to the desert!

Sounds good to me! I just blew six inches of slush out of my driveway, and it just started snowing again. *Shakes his fist at the sky*

On a side note, I've always wanted to distill my own rum, until I found out the ATF would frown on that.[V] You can make your own beer, but not anything good!

I wouldn't count out the possibility of both! [:p] I thought you meant you were making your barbancourt last longer by mixing that with castillo. ok, you're saying you drink that straight but use the castillo for mixers. gotcha.
