Cannibal mice
I have been trapping mice for many years and have never seen this. I set traps in my garage using peanut butter as bait. Every morning I check the trap and find a mouse in it with his mouth, throat, and belly eaten away. I figure once he is caught, his bud's finish the bait on the trap, then follow the smell of what he has eaten, eating him in the process. I set traps out in the shop too but those mice are more respectful of the dead.

Just hope you don't get stuck in one them traps. You never know when the mice might turn into man eaters.[:p] 0 -
Nope mice will do that... if one is "down" they will eat it. I used to have mice to feed my snakes.. it happened on a regular basis. 0 -
also know that rats will eat mice outta traps too. 0 -
I saw this thing on Animal Planet, about mice in the desert, bigger ones would grab smaller ones and eat their brains out but leave the rest.
btw around here I've seen plenty of dead mice but never eaten up. they were intact.0 -

When I was raising birds outside, we had LOTS of mice. I used live traps that would hold quite a few mice at one time. Once I baited the trap with some peanut butter, I would not have to bait it again for quite a while. The bait got the first one in, then the sound/smell(?) of the live mouse would draw in others. Once inside, to keep from starving to death, they ate what was available, each other. 0 -
I got one of those too. the instructions say when there's mice in it, the other mice hear them squeaking and smell urine so they think it's OK to go in there too. 0
