3-5 separate countries within 50 years
A few guys at work and I were discussing what America would look like in fifty years. The consensus was that with the lack of unity and the increase in the almighty "diversity" the melting pot has gone cold. The federal government usurps greater power from the states in its' pursuit of a nanny state. These events, we think, will cause a schism/seccession/Balkanization of the states.

I don't think that'll happen.
if it anything, I think texas would be the first to go. and I'd be packing up my stuff and heading over in a hurry.0 -
Very possible.
Country one. East of the Mississippi
Country two. West of Mississippi except present day western Washington, western Oregon and California.
Country three. Western Washington, western Oregon and California.0 -
hhmmm... for some reason, I don't think the mexi's in texas would be too keen on that idea, so if the folks in texas find themselves considering it, they'd conduct a vote of the population- the more mexi's, the less chance of that happening.
maybe that's why the gov't is so friendly towards illegals and slouching on border security.
somewhat of the same effect everywhere, really.0 -
Wont happen. Although we rambos here on GB might relish a civil war, the population at large would not. They're content with their cable TV, fast food, and 9-5 jobs.
Not to mention that any state which attempts secession will be immediately overrun with national guard and perhaps even regular Army or Marines within 48 hours. You'd be fighting a dirty, lonely, guerilla war.0 -
Good news is you are all correct. The bad news is...you are all correct. 0 -
