For the Saint Louis Mo. Guys
Looks like there were enough "homeys" on the jury to get a mistrial on admitted cop killer Kevin Johnson.[}:)] For those in other areas, this is a "gansta" that called police with the intention of killing whatever officer responded, killed the LEO, admitted it, and claims he did it in a fit of rage over the police response to his brothers death of natural causes! Says they didn't do enough to save him.

If it was a mistrial, at least he can be re-tried. Maybe they will get it right next time. 0 -
I remember the whole schlamiel. when his little brother died, it was when the fuzz went into his parent's house looking for someone, ordered everybody out, but his brother (12 years old I think) went into some kind of convulsion on the floor. from what I read in the paper, the cops basically stood there watching him and did nothing, as he died, and was dead. while keeping everybody out of the house.
I and a bunch of dudes at work read what happened in the paper, and we were all pretty much outraged.
then a few days later is when he ambushed that cop.
then he was on the run for a few days, until his kinfolk negotiated a surrender with the cops, they led the cops to where he was waiting for them to make sure nothing untoward happened when he was taken into custody.
remember all that? that's the story. so, when they're going over it in the newspaper now, it doesn't seem biased against the dude -but they aren't recalling the details about his brother's death.
I'm not saying it was ok to do what he did, but, he's not lying when he says he did it in a fit of rage. right or wrong, he did have his reasons. this was nothing trivial to him.0 -
Did the police call for an ambulance? Were they trained to the point of being able to diagnosis what was wrong with the kid? What if they had done all they could for him, and things still turned out the way they did? Would the family have been o.k. with that fact? Or would they have gone after the cops for not being trained medical personel, and therefore responsible for the boys death anyway?
It's a sad thing that the boy died, but laying an ambush for someone last time I checked was premeditated, and therefore constituted 1st degree murder. The fact that it happened a couple days after the little brother died only tells me that he had time to contemplate it, plan it, and also talk himself or let someone else talk him out of it. None of those things happened.
Seeing as he admitted it also, makes it pretty cut and dried as far as I'm concerned.

didn't do nothing but watch.

that's what they're working on in court. why he did it, I suppose, would be a "mitigating" factor. determined after he is found guilty or not.

Mitigating? You don't kill someone because someone close to you dies. That still makes you a murderer. 0 -

Johnson shot McEntee the same day that his brother died. A witness said that Johnson said that he was going to kill the next cop that he sees.0 -

It only takes one juror to cause a "hung" jury.
Johnson did not call the police. McEntee was in the area responding to a complaint about someone shooting off fireworks.0 -

stuff that would make the sentence lighter is called "mitigating" factors. such as a crime of passion, "did it in a fit of rage", you were provoked, etc.
stuff that would make the sentence heavier is called "aggravating" factors. like it was premeditated, you were really brutal, repeat offense, etc.
as far as I remember, it was at least 2 days later.0 -
This article says that McEntee was shot 2 hrs. after the boy died.
It also says that paramedics were working on the boy when he died.

This is pretty much the story, though I believe McEntee was shot later that day while responding to a call about fireworks that most LEOs believe was set up by Johnson to lure a officer to be ambushed. The Police did stand by and do nothing but supply security for the EMTs working on the boy. This POS deserves Capital.0 -
