Future Gang Members?
I was on the way home this evening and only a few blocks from home, when I saw two boys maybe 10 to 12 years old holding a small boy maybe 6 or 7 years old down on the ground and punching him in the face.
I stopped and got out of the truck, and the older boys ran like jack rabbits. The younger boy was bloody and crying. I got a clean towel from behind the seat of the truck and I had some bottled water, so I started cleaning him up.
I asked him if he knew his home phone number and was his mother, father, or some older children at home. He did, and said his mother was at home. I called her on the cell phone, told her what had happened and where we were, and she arrived in less than two minutes. She asked the boy (Pete) what happened, I guess to confirm my story, and was going to take him home.
I asked him if he knew the boys who hit him, and he did. I told her let me call 911 since he knew who they were and I was a witness. She did and the local police are going to make a report and call on the boys and their parents. They said they could and probably will charge them.
Maybe we will head off a couple of future gang bangers.

Coming to? This was an everyday thing when I was growing up, and that was just with my brothers!!0 -

better yet, i hope they have parents who love them and show them the error of their ways. when i was younger i knew kids who did stuff like that but matured and became much better people. the thing about youth is that you arent yet the person you are going to be and everyone can change for the better.

I'm on the very backside of 30 and in my youth things like this happened. The outcome could be one of several.
#1 Momma gets on the phone or walks down to their house and discusses it with the other Momma who then gives said bully the thrashing of his life.
#2 Parents of said bully blow off incident in which case Mamma and Daddy teach you how to fight dirty....and I mean D-I-R-T-Y.[:D]
Remember those canvas backpacks Dad would buy at the Army Surplus store for you to carry your books in? It was a formidable weapon when loaded down with books and used to the back of the head.[xx(]
Needless to say, I don't know of anyone that became a "gang member". Maybe they drank themselves to death or are on their 6th marriage, but gangmember...uh,uh.0
