Nintendo Wii supply update
I went Wii hunting a few days ago, and every-single-store in town is sold out. a lot of game stores I called said "oh, we should be getting a shipment on tuesday, maybe wednesday" ya right, it was a lie.
from the information I gathered, what they are doing is, they may get a shipment in today, or wednesday, no deliveries on thursday (thanksgiving), but they are holding whatever they get until FRIDAY.
if they put them out them today, they would be gone instantly (as have all shipments lately) but at least on FRIDAY they can say "we got some in today but sold out already" to all the shoppers.
that's what they're all doing. I talked to 4 different kinds of chain stores and a bunch of assorted non-chain-stores.
except wal-mart, who got shipments of Wii's today and put them on the shelf (gone instantly) probably get more tomorrow, it seems like they get them at least every other day.
now, the typical shipment for small stores all over has been about 8 Wii's. wal-mart gets 6 per shipment. on FRIDAY I don't know how many the typical shipment will be, maybe more? but I doubt it due to the obviously limited supply. if it's the usual 8 or so, expect them to be g-o-n-e! before you even get there.
in summary, not a single store in town (except wal-mart) will say they have Wii's before FRIDAY, and on FRIDAY they will most likely have about 8 to sell, which will be sold out instantly.

I was just in Best Buy here, and they had several. Was in Wally World last night and they had a few. Drive about 3 hours south and pick one up! 0 -
Bought one for my kid this weekend... 0 -
wife bought one last summer. the big stores were all sold out. found a small mall game store that had several. 0 -
Try going to ebay and bidding on them!
They all jump up to over $400 in the last minutes!0 -
Not a problem here! Got better things to do than play video games. 0 -
there's a guy who has one on arizonashooting.com with a bunch of games and way too many controllers for 400 bucks.
I'm surprised it's not sold already. I know the guy personally, so I know he's legit.

I'd rethink buying a Wii, the novelty wears off real quick. I think the X-Box 360 is a better buy. A friend of mine's step son got a Wii for his birthday and when I go to their house, we always play their old Sony PS2. 0 -

Have they been buying any of the new Wii games which have come out in the last couple months? Most launch games - for all consoles - usually lack staying power and replayability. However, some newer games which I believe will stick around and which have caught my attention include Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Paper Mario. Indeed, according to GameRankings, Super Mario Galaxy is rated as being equal to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, at 97.6%. This makes it tied for the highest (on-average) rated game of all time.0 -
Rent A Centers in the Detroit area are selling them for $400.00..[:0] 0 -
We searched for weeks for one. Finally got one a couple weeks ago.
Really cool. Especially the RPG's and Shooters.0 -

Not if you are a fan of the Nintendo franchise titles like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc. Can't get those on the X-Box. I have a Wii, but I will probably pick up a 360 sometime in the future so I can have access to those games that don't have a Wii version, like Halo 3.0 -

I when I got mine it was the second to last and one of the two guys behind me was real pissed off. <shrug> My mom loves it![:D]
on another note my game machine is a 360, a little more complicated games and "adult" oriented. ie: model of honor, assasins creede, ect..

maaaan, there was an ad in the paper for K-Mart "in stock while supplies last!" the day before thanksgiving, they open up at 7am on thanksgiving! I figured "great time to snatch one" I got there at 630am, there was already a line from the front door to the end of the building, 4 people abreast! I thought ok, they can't all be here for a Wii, so I got in line. 7:00 came, the doors opened, and we went in.
mad rush to the electronics dept, cuz apparenty they had a special on TV's. where are the nintendos?? not there. then a voice on the intercom said "if you're looking for Wii's bring your voucher up to the front". so I went up front, where are the Wii's? they pointed to an empty shopping cart. what they did was, they only had NINE, so the first 9 people in line who wanted a Wii they gave a voucher to, to pick up once the doors opened. so I was s.o.l. the whole time and didn't even know it.
ok, what time does Beest Buy open up? I went down the street, the sign on the door says 10:00 AM, it was about 7:30AM and there was already a row of empty chairs next to the door and a few cars with people waiting out of the cold. at 7:30 AM. on thanksgiving! I said forget it.
then these other jackasses, last week they said "we'll have a shiment of them on TUESDAY" they should be ready when the doors open up on tuesday at 10 AM, so I got there at 930, nobody showed up until almost 11, they open the doors and no Wii's. where they at?!? we might get some on wednesday, not open on thursday (thanksgiving) but for sure by friday" the manager took my name and said he'd hold 1 for me, they'll call when the shipment comes in and I can pick it up. (rrrrrright) I call the store again later that day, did the Wii's come in? manager says, no, (didn't know who I was) but give me your name, and we can hold two of them, we'll call and you have 1 hour to pick them up. so I give him my name again. he says call friday around noon if they havne't called me already.
I called friday about 11, no Wii's.
12, no Wii's.
1, no Wii's.
I go there about 2 pm. notice the sign says they opened at 9 AM for early shopping. no customers in the store. got some Wii's? nothing came in yet.
"ok, I got 2 on hold whenever they come in."
"we don't do that."
"the manager said he'd do that."
"we can't do that."
"he took my name and number. look, it's in the computer."
(he looks, it's in the computer)
"I can't do that. if there's a line on front of the door, it's first come first serve."
"it's in the computer! he said he would hold TWO Wii's for me!"
"he's not here, I don't want to get yelled at"
"when will you get some in?!?!?"
"maybe later on today, around 4 pm maybe"
BULL
SHEET
like they didn't have Wii's on FRIDAY morning like they told me they would, like everybody else in town who has been holding them for that day, and they didn't sell them all when they opened at 9:00??
like they're going to get a shipment later than 2pm on a friday, maybe 4:00, and there's going to be a line of people that appears in front of the door when this shipment shows up?
like the manager takes my name and number twice, promising to hold them for me, but the clerks say they can't do that?
LESSON LEARNED:
THEY ARE FULL OF SHEEEEEiT
this is a colossal waste of time.0 -
I was at Wal-Mart couple of week ago, I bought 4 for $260 piece. I will soon put them on Fleabay. 0 -
walmart.com has them in-stock, online only about 2-3 times a week. You have to check frequently because they don't last long on line either. They have only had the "Customer Choice Bundle" for $677 lately. By the time you make your selections and itemize the individual prices, you save a few bucks over buying it all seperate. We figured that by the end of January we'd probably buy all those extras and then some anyway. 0 -
You folks are excited about the new games? Hell I'm tickled that I found Atari Classics for the computer [:D] 0 -
Buschmaster, email me. I know where you can get a Wii. It's over MSRP, but a friend of mine bought one to sell. 0 -
no thanks. the most I wanted to spend was the 249$. 0
