G.B. exclusive preview !!!
i promised a peak at what i have been up to lately, so you guys are the first to see my work with the exception of family and the smith acting as mentor...
not the greatest job in the world, but not too shameful either...
so here it is! this is the cut off, black epoxy stock i started tonight, as promised in yesterdays thread. only one side done since i work for a liveing doing other stuff lol
these first two pics arent too good because of the light at the bench.
first is the blank stock with some basic layout lines on it...

then the border is cut and the first checkering lines are in...

and here is the finished patern. sorry for the two-tone pic. had to do a composite and that is how they got. left half is what the wood actually looks like.

iwannausername, if you really want walnut grip panels, send me an old set for paterning...i have some nice 1/2" stuff would be real nice. let me know.
i also should have some sycamore shortly with some nice graining, very nice light colored wood should show off nicely on a blued gun.

Thanks for the offer on the grips - I don't need 'em yet, since I haven't gotten my 45 yet... (mid Feb I think I will...). I was just thinking you could've gotten more practice, made a few bucks, and saved a potentially ruined nice piece of wood from a fireplace. 0 -
Looks great! I have been thinking about dabbling with checkering. 0 -
