why my Baby Eagle is jamming and not ejecting?
I have a .40 cal. Baby Desert Eagle that I absolutely love.
But lately it is "acting up" by not ejecting fired casings before attempting to load another round and jamming in the process.
The spring is new....what can be causing this, please?
I shoot either 180 gr. or 165 gr. Winchester factory ammo.

Have you ever, even once, loaded the first round by dropping it into the barrel through the ejection port while the slide was open?
Your symptoms sound like a bad extractor, and the above is a common cause of a bad extractor.
Not clear whether the empty is being pulled from the chamber and left in the gun, or whether it is not being pulled from the chamber. If it is the former, you could have a broken ejector.0 -
No, I've never ever hand loaded a round into it.
The casing is still in the chamber as another tries to feed, but of course the rack won't close completely.
What could have caused a broken ejector? Firing too hot of factory rounds thru it? It worked flawlessly for weeks, but now only about 90% of the time.
Could my stepping up from 180 gr. to 165 gr ammo have damaged it? I would have thought it would be mor hardy than just that. Could that be? Do I need to lube the ejector and chamber better?0 -
If it's new it might just be a defective part. I've had a 9mm baby eagle for years with 1000's of rounds through it and never had 1 problem. 0 -
what time frame did this happen with the new spring, was it the same weight? 0 -

I have all the gear just haven't started doing it yet.
I still have pile of factory ammo to shoot(and collect casing from).
The Baby Eagle has not had a "new(replacement)spring". It's got the factory spring that it came with....the gun is only 5 months old. (first 4 months, no problems until I started putting 165 gr. ammo thru it that I mistakenly though was 180.
In fact...I've been trying to remember which of my collection it happened in...but one 165 gr. round split it's casing all the way down near the bottom rim, and was burnt/blacked when I pried it out. It MAY have been that one. I wish I'd payed more artention at the time.0 -

I'm confused with these statements, unless i just read it wrong
but yes a split case can cause this, and foul the chamber in the process, but the important thing to find out is why the case split, ether under powder or over powder charge, or old weak cases is typically the culprit, not the bullet weight unless someone didn't change the powder charge0 -
I guess it would have been clearer, if I'd just said the gun is almost new(instead of singling out the spring).
But I have no idea about "the over or under" powder load in the Winchester 165 grained factory white box rounds I bought.
It has only happened once and must have been defectively loaded at the factory.
Anyway, my Baby Eagle is undependably ejecting cartridges every now and then now, and I hate it. What do I look for in it to see if the ejector has been damaged? I don't think my Sig P239 likes those rounds either.....and Damn!..I bought 6 boxes of a 100 each!0 -
some people here will swear by wwwb ammo, but i have seen way to many rounds screwed up by bad quality control, just ask grd he recently found out 0 -

5 months old is still under warranty - bring it back and let them repair it. No need to tell them what you did.0 -
I'm not brand loyal, especially if their quality control is shappy.
But I am on a "ammo budget"(not that I'd want to damage my pistols for a couple bucks a box), but which brand of quality economical ammo would you recommend, please?
