Just reading between the lines over a long period of time some people think they don't have to go through the NIC's check if they have a concealed carry permit. Am I missing something here?

    Got stopped one night, I let the LEO know I was carrying.
    he ask if it was loaded, my comment was, your is right.
    He laughed and said right.

    I carry an XD, one in the chamber. Or a tomcat (on sundays-it's smaller and prettier) one in the chamber, on safe.
    Or for no apparent reason, a P95DC, one in the chamber.

    You say the owner's safety was on, like that is a bad thing. But then you say you think the only way to carry an auto is cocked and locked. Cocked and locked means the safety is on. That is the way 1911s were meant to be carried, but you still have to know how to use it. There is nothing wrong with carrying a semi with the safety on, but you sure have to know to take if off when you need it. Personally, I prefer DA/SA or DAO semis for defensive work, point and shoot, just like a revolver.


    By cocked and locked, i meant hammer back, one in the tube, no safety.


    Ahh, but that is not cocked and locked, that is just cocked. The locked part comes in when the safety is on.

    Doesn't really matter how you carry as long as you practice that way. Then practice some more. Then work on your mental preparedness. Then practice your draw some more.

    I bet the store owner bought the gun 5 years ago and hasn't practiced drawing or even shot it since then.

    I saw that video of the jeweler. I agree! In a panicked situation a revolver is thumbs up. Or a single action colt carried with one in the pipe.

    If he had a revolver he would have been golden. (or his gun wasnt on safety) He had a 1-2 second advantage on the bad guy.

    This is why the guns I carry have no safety. K.I.S.S., evaluate, draw, point, pull the trigger. This is why a 1911 is not in my stable, the safety as well as several other reasons. The only gun I've ever carried that broke this rule was a P7 PSP, but I quit carrying it too.

    Yep,......throws a few, but I love it.
    Have had it to the range several times now, and no issues whatsoever.
    I love the "so-called" DA trigger.
    It feels like some of the SA's I have used before.
    I am now an XD fan![8D]
