Went up into the national forrest picking huckleberries with the wife today. After we were done picking a coyote ran out in front of us and started running down the road in front of my truck. The wife popped of a few rounds with her .40 S&W and missed it (the truck was bouncing around) and the yote cut up the bank for an escape. I told Belinda to hand me the gun and I popped it at about 30 yards. The damn thing was flopping all around the brush and I popped of a few more rounds...he was still flopping all over the place, so I climbed up the bank and walked up to him...and finished him off. He had several holes through him...those full metal jackets must have went right through him without a lot of soft tissue damage.

Not going to bust your nads FMJ's= Bad Poo poo on game.[:)][:D][8D]

Edit- a dead yote is a good yote.

Yeah...but as a back up on bear, the FMJ's might penetrate better.?.? She carries her .40 in case I can't hit the thing with my .460 S&W.

You saw what happened to the yote, If it were a 400 lb blackie, he would have been a little upset. Soft point or hp's!.

Really??? ...with the .40 being so anemic (when it comes to bear), I would have thought you'd want something with better penetration...

I would...that guy must be dumb

Thats why FMJ's are outlawed for hunting in most states[;)] Hp's make or sp's make nice bleed channels.

It never fails to amaze me when people get upset about shooting coyotes. Do they not live in a area that has them or just don't care about the damage they cause? It is tough enough ranching in the USA with out their help...... Good job ECC[:D]

220..... Yeh, he was young and dumb..... only the smart survive.

Maybe we should put bayonets on our rifles for those up close and personal encounters.

I called one in years ago near Carson city Nev. He snuck right up on me to about 10ft. When he recognized the human laying in the brush, he split, never got a shot at that one.

LL... There have been a few times I've need one. I usually do the calling, in the group of guys I hunt with. So I always carry the Sage howitzer.
Where in California are you and do you get to northern Nevada much?
