    He Dog.

Thank you very much for informed reply. Also, thank you very much for english language. In Russian language there is no difference between HORNS on a buffalo and Antlers on a deer. They are all called by the same word: ROGA' - a boney growth extending pass the skin covering of the skull. Interestinly enough, the word ROGATYI (the one with horns, horny), and the expression "to give someone horns" (Nastavit' roga) in Russian language means the person who have been cheated on by his partner (male or female).
I still think in Russian, hense, sometimes, a single russian word, has several variation in English, I often mix them up.
    Thank you for correction.

Colonel, I also respect your opinion, but since less than 3% of all US beef is produced in the west, I value p-dogs more than ranchers.

Man. That's harsh. I'll let you be the one to tell ranchers that they're less valuable than disease-ridden, pasture-destroying vermin.[:D]

Not only the Ranchers do not produce much of the meat consumed in USA. Not only they fill the cows full of hormones and heck knows what else, and we are the ones eating that crap, but they are also subsidised by the very "Gonment" that many on this board hate. Making them just another part of the Welfare state, that can't stay afloat on their own. Just like General Motors who is kept afloat largely by military orders and the inner city blacks.

OK, I get it. Anti-hunter and anti-rancher. If you knew the fine ranch men and women that I do, I'm reasonably certain you wouldn't judge them so harshly. But back to prairie dogs...
No matter how many are poisoned or shot, their numbers increase daily. When the CDOW did a flyover count a couple of years ago, they found that the number of black-tailed prairie dogs was eightfold what earlier estimates indicated. Not included in the flyover areas was the land surrounding Jefferson COunty and Denver International airports; some of the most p-dog-infesteder...populated areas in Colorado.

Now I gotta take myself out of this discussion because I just had a wisdom tooth pulled and four fillings done. I'm not going to be a happy poster when the feeling comes back to my face.

I really do "celebrate the diversity" I find here on Gunbroker and hope that I haven't made any enemies today. Of course, if I have, then it wouldn't be the first time.[8D]

    Shalom!
    Plink.

I am anti Sports hunter. As far as ranchers... do you dispute that they are heavily subsidised with MY AND YOURS taxes? Much like welfare blacks in the inner city and trailor park white trash welfare generations.
Do you dispute that the cows and sheep are being fed hormones and other chemicals?
Do you dispute that very low procentage of meat consumed in US is made in USA?

I do not doubt that ranchers are fine folks with guns. Hell, I have known some really nice members of Stone Cobras and Black Disciples, also with guns. Despite being white, I was treated better by them, then I was by policemen on few occasions. At least Black Disciples never shot any of my friends and never searched my care because I didn't look like I was white/rich enough to live in Deerfield/Illinois.
What I am trying to say is that if you are on Government Subsidies, it is just about the same as having welfare. Which is MY taxes. Taxes for which I get NOTHING in return except hormon laden meat and milk. I have to pay $10/lbs to get a descent meat. Sheesh!!! it is nothing personal against ranchers. it is strictly the issue of money and business. Thats why I don't buy Ford and Chevy. It is what I get for my money.

...Reincarnate of tweddle-lum-dum, rainforestman, or who knows, who cares? Rather obvious with his reply bringing Bush into ANOTHER topic from left field, now ranchers/tax subsidies...what the guy is, Im through..he will dissappear as all trolls do...[;)]

It is pretty interesting to see that when people have NOTHING FACTUAL to say they will reserve to name calling and standard NeoCon
    BS.
    1) Do the Ranchers recieve subsidies, thus shown to be inefficient businesses? YES OR NO?
    2) Do they inject cows and other animals with hormones? YES OR NO?
    3) Do the produce a significant (over 40%) amount of meat produce in USA? YES OR NO?

These are easy questions. Even for a NeoCons.

TC's view of nature seems to be based on the "Bambi" crowd. Predators no more want to eat the sick and dying as much as he does. They like "fresh" meat and will kill as often as possible to get it.
Wolves, cougars, and lions a great. But they become a problem when they move into the burbs or the city.
Come spend a year in the swamp with me, TC. You'll change your opinion on hunting and the real animal world for sure. Especially after a 10' gator eats your dog.[:D]
